Alaska Airlines and AkzoNobel Unveil Disney-Themed Aircraft Celebrating Adventure
Alaska Airlines and AkzoNobel Bring Disney Magic to Life
In an exciting collaboration, Alaska Airlines has partnered with AkzoNobel Aerospace Coatings to introduce a breathtaking Disney-themed livery on its Boeing 737-800 aircraft, aptly named Tiana's Bayou Adventure Flyer. This vibrant aircraft design was unveiled at Portland International Airport, celebrating the airline’s ongoing relationship with Disneyland Resort and showcasing the spirit of adventure.
The striking design pays homage to the beloved Disney film The Princess and the Frog, bringing together elements that encapsulate the charm of the story. Notably, the aircraft's fuselage features Princess Tiana in a stunning depiction, surrounded by whimsical illustrations that reflect the enchanting world of the movie. Among these are Louis the Alligator joyfully playing among water lilies and a mesmerizing trail of glowing fireflies that dances gracefully along the aircraft from nose to tail. The winglets boast the presence of other characters like Mama Odie and Prince Naveen, further enhancing the magical narrative.
AkzoNobel's cutting-edge Aerodur basecoat/clearcoat (BCCC) system was utilized for this special livery, showcasing 19 unique colors that not only celebrate the artistic vision but also provide long-lasting protection for the aircraft. Over 2,000 hours and 24 days were dedicated by IAC Spokane's talented team to meticulously paint this detailed design. This effort demonstrates the strong commitment of both companies to excellence in artistry and quality.
Leo Rosales, a Sales Representative for Aerospace Coatings Americas, expressed pride in the partnership, highlighting that AkzoNobel’s innovative coating solutions empower such creative projects. He noted, “The IAC team has delivered another striking livery which not only beautifully promotes the immersive Tiana's Bayou Adventure experience at Disneyland but also shows Alaska Airlines' commitment to creating remarkable journeys.” Rosales further emphasized the joy of collaborating with the IAC team to bring this colorful vision to life with technical support throughout the process.
The Tiana's Bayou Adventure Flyer (N596AS) took its inaugural flight to Santa Ana, California, coinciding with the upcoming opening of the Tiana's Bayou Adventure attraction at Disneyland Park. This new livery joins three other Disney-themed aircraft in the Alaska Airlines fleet, including Mickey's Toontown Express, Star Wars Transport to the Disneyland Resort, and Friendship and Beyond, all painted with AkzoNobel coatings, showcasing the airline's dedication to providing magical experiences for its passengers.
Since its founding in 1792, AkzoNobel has consistently aimed to deliver innovative paints and coatings that enrich lives and protect valuables. Their extensive portfolio is known globally, leaving a significant mark in over 150 countries. With a continual focus on sustainability, the company is committed to improving everyday life, demonstrating that every surface holds potential for transformation.
As Alaska Airlines and AkzoNobel continue to push the boundaries of creativity and collaboration, this beautifully designed Disney-themed aircraft serves as a reminder of the magic that can unfold in the skies, making travel a truly enchanting experience.
