Experience a Unique Dinner Event Celebrating Japanese Wine at Hotel La Vigne Hakuba

On June 21, 2025, Hotel La Vigne Hakuba is set to host a remarkable dinner event that celebrates the essence of Japanese wine culture. Located in the heart of Hakuba Village, this alpine resort hotel will welcome three pioneering winemakers from Japan, who have significantly contributed to the nation's wine profile. This extraordinary evening promises to feature a selection of nine exceptional vintage wines, including rare back vintages, paired alongside a specially curated dinner by Chef Yamato Imanishi, showcasing seasonal ingredients from Hakuba presented through a unique blend of traditional and innovative French cuisine, symbolizing the theme "Onko Chishin" – a philosophy that emphasizes the importance of honoring the past while embracing the new.

In recent years, Japanese food culture and wines have garnered global attention. This was notably recognized when the hotel’s restaurant, LA VIGNE DINING FÛDO, won a gold medal in the Newcomer List category and silver in two other categories at the prestigious Star Wine List of the Year Awards Japan 2025.

The evening will commence at 6:00 PM, providing guests with the chance to indulge in a thoughtfully designed dinner course that includes pairings of nine carefully selected wines representing the rich heritage and potential of Japanese viticulture. This opportunity not only allows attendees to savor the finest wines but also to engage directly with the extraordinary winemakers behind these creations.

Among the distinguished guests will be Akihiko Soga from Obuse Winery in Nagano, whose family-run business has been crafting wines since 1942. Their commitment to European grape varieties and the vision of becoming a small domain similar to those in Burgundy has allowed them to produce outstanding wines for decades.

Noriko Kishihira from Takeda Winery in Yamagata, established in 1920, emphasizes wine production rooted in the Japanese terroir. Notably, they crafted Japan's first sparkling wine using the méthode champenoise in 1989, setting a precedent for the industry.

Lastly, Kozo Tsuchiya from Kizan Wine Company in Yamanashi, founded in 1937, focuses on indigenous grape varieties while integrating European varieties like Chardonnay and Merlot into their offerings, showcasing the region's deep wine culture.

The event's venue, LA VIGNE DINING FÛDO, provides a splendid mountain view and a chance to enjoy seasonal dishes prepared with locally sourced ingredients. The restaurant is dedicated to creating a dining experience that reflects the unique terroir of Nagano, blending meticulous craftsmanship with the natural beauty of the area.

Tickets for this exclusive event, including accommodation for two, are priced from 66,000 yen per person (including tax). Each reservation comes with a dedicated dinner experience that highlights the harmony of food and wine, destined to be an evening of delectable flavors and cultural enrichment.

Chef Yamato Imanishi, the head chef at LA VIGNE DINING FÛDO, brings with him a profound culinary background. He graduated at the top of his class from École Tsuji in Osaka and further refined his skills in renowned establishments in France, including the prestigious Michel Bras. His rich experience in top Michelin-starred kitchens allows him to present a unique French dining experience that resonates with local ingredients.
