From November 1st to 3rd, Sunshine City in Ikebukuro will transform into a vibrant playground where children can freely engage in fun and educational activities at the IKEBUKURO LIVING LOOP × Sunshine City PLAYPARK. This exciting event will take place at the Alpa 1F South Entrance Square and is part of the initiative to create a comfortable community space that encourages play and learning.

The IKEBUKURO LIVING LOOP project focuses on enhancing the Ikebukuro East area, promoting walkability, and providing children with various opportunities to learn and have fun through universal sports, sustainable workshops, and interactive exhibits.

Micro Pig Workshop

Learn about the adorable micro pigs at the mipig cafe located in Alpa B1. Kids can challenge themselves with quizzes about micro pigs and aspire to become a “micro pig master.”

Eco-Workshop – Protecting Oceans and Life

In collaboration with Chiba University of Commerce, a workshop will educate participants about marine pollution and its impact on fish. Attendees will collect plastic waste from a pool and create their own unique kendama or lantern using recycled materials.

Owl Consultation Room

November is designated as “Toshima Children’s Month.” This area will spotlight children’s rights and the Toshima district regulations on children’s rights. Participants can express their feelings by writing on boards.

Trash Learning Workshop

A unique opportunity to learn about waste management by experiencing the interior of a transparent garbage truck. Kids will engage in hands-on activities that raise awareness about waste.

Little Miss Princess Meet & Greet

On November 3rd, kids can meet the charming Little Miss Princess and receive paper masks featuring characters from the Mr. Men Little Miss series.

Additional Activities

The Storybook Forest corner will feature a reading space with storybooks, a recycling book giveaway, and special workshops aimed at fostering creativity. Families are encouraged to visit and enjoy these activities together.

The event will be held in the South Entrance Square of Sunshine City, located under the elevated structure of the Metropolitan Expressway. This area has been previously utilized as a pedestrian walkway but has been revitalized into a lively space that serves as a community hub for all ages.
