FlashLabs' OrcaRouter Introduces Passkeys and 2FA for Enhanced Security

OrcaRouter Enhances Security with Passkeys and 2FA

In a significant move for the tech industry, FlashLabs Inc., headquartered in Chiyoda, Tokyo, has announced that its adaptive inference gateway, OrcaRouter, will support Passkeys and two-factor authentication (2FA) starting August 25, 2026. This new feature is designed to bolster security for developers by protecting API keys, models, and credits from unauthorized access.

Key Features of OrcaRouter's Update

  • - Support for Passkeys and 2FA: Users can activate these features through the account settings under "Sign-In and Security".
  • - Next-Generation Authentication: Passkeys eliminate the need for passwords, significantly reducing the risk of phishing and password list attacks by using biometric data like fingerprints or facial recognition.
  • - Enhanced Security with 2FA: An additional layer of security, 2FA requires another form of verification along with the password, thereby preventing unauthorized logins even if the password is compromised.

As the use of AI agents becomes more prevalent among businesses and developers, securing API keys has become increasingly vital. API keys are essential for calling large language models (LLMs), managing billing, and sending data. In environments where AI agents autonomously call APIs, unauthorized access to accounts holding these keys can lead to significant financial losses and leaks of confidential data. As such, stronger security measures have become more critical than ever.

The Importance of Enhanced Security in AI

OrcaRouter's implementation of Passkeys and 2FA comes at a time when AI agents are being integrated into various sectors at a rapid pace. With the rise of AI-driven solutions, having a robust method to secure API keys—and subsequently, the organizations’ valuable data and resources—is paramount. The introduction of these features enables developers using OrcaRouter to better secure their API keys (BYOK - Bring Your Own Key), models, and credits.

What is OrcaRouter?

OrcaRouter is an AI inference gateway developed by the U.S.-based AI research institution, Continuum AI, and exclusively offered in the Japanese market by FlashLabs. It boasts compatibility with OpenAI’s API and provides access to over 200 LLMs and generative AI models including those from Anthropic, OpenAI, Google Gemini, DeepSeek, Grok, and Qwen. Notably, it recently added cutting-edge models such as GPT-5.6, Claude Opus 5, and Gemini 3.6 Flash shortly after their release. A comprehensive list of available AI models can be found through OrcaRouter’s AI model directory.

Features Driving Cost-Efficiency and Quality

One of OrcaRouter's standout features is its adaptive routing capability, which assesses request complexity in real time and directs it to the most suitable model. This has resulted in cost reductions of over 40% while maintaining approximately 99% quality (based on internal research). The gateway also addresses routing that considers cache and dynamically elevates complex tasks to high-performance models through a feature called "Frontier Escalation".

Importantly, users incur no markup on token prices and can utilize upstream providers' listed prices directly. The BYOK feature enables developers to avoid vendor lock-in while economically utilizing multiple models. Additionally, a rotating pool of free models is available, allowing users to evaluate model performance without incurring costs.

Future Outlook

FlashLabs aims to continue enhancing its platform's features, including account security, to further improve the safety and cost-efficiency of generative AI utilization across organizations of all sizes.
