Understanding Product Carbon Footprint and Practical Usage Techniques
On July 15, 2025, the Japan Planning Institute (JPI) will host a seminar focused on the calculation methods and practical applications of product carbon footprints (CFP). The session will feature Akiko Furuya, Manager of the Environmental Business Division at E&E Solutions, who will provide in-depth insights.
This seminar is pertinent in the context of escalating concerns regarding global warming, where the scrutiny over greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from corporate activities has intensified worldwide. The emphasis is not only on organizational GHG emissions but also notably on the GHG emissions from individual products, known as the product carbon footprint.
Participants will be introduced to the CFP calculation methods in accordance with ISO 14040/14044 and ISO 14067. The seminar is structured such that even attendees with no prior knowledge can easily understand the concepts and techniques discussed. This accessibility is crucial as companies increasingly face regulations and consumer demand focusing on sustainability and environmental responsibility.
