NEC Innovates Digital Maternal Health Record App in Tokyo's Higashimurayama

NEC Solution Innovators has embarked on an exciting initiative in collaboration with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and GovTech Tokyo, introducing a digital maternal health record application aimed at enhancing health management for pregnant women and parents with children up to six years old. This innovative app, known as the Digital Maternal Health Record, will undergo a trial phase from January 15 to March 31 in the city of Higashimurayama.

Features of the Digital Maternal Health Record App

The app aims to streamline the process of tracking pregnancy and child-rearing information while providing timely resources for users. Here are some of the key features:

1. Recording Pregnancy and Child-Rearing Information
Users can document their pregnancy journey, childbirth experiences, and ongoing child development milestones, complete with photos and notes. This capability extends to sharing records with family members via QR codes, thus fostering a supportive family environment.

2. Access to Valuable Information
The app offers tailored information based on the user's stage—whether they are pregnant or raising a young child. Expecting mothers will receive updates aligned with their pregnancy week and birthing history, alongside official notifications from Higashimurayama. For parents, there are resources concerning health check-ups, vaccinations, and local child-rearing support facilities, ensuring that all essential services are easily accessible.

3. Digital Transformation of Paper Documents
Traditionally distributed paper documents provided upon pregnancy registration will also be digitized. Users can access and search these documents at any time through the Digital Maternal Health Record app, significantly reducing the burden of managing paper records.

4. Automatic Health Check-Up and Vaccination Record Updates
By integrating with the Public Medical Hub (PMH) utilizing My Number Cards, the app can automatically reflect health check-up results and vaccination records directly in the Digital Maternal Health Record. Additionally, users can benefit from scheduling features and reminders, aiding in the effective management of their children’s health.

5. Support for Finding Medical Institutions and Medication Management
The app allows for the registration of nearby medical facilities, providing space for notes before and after medical visits. With integration using a child’s My Number Card, prescription information can be automatically recorded and managed, while reminders for medication reinforce adherence to prescribed treatments.

Looking ahead, NEC Solution Innovators is tapping into feedback from this trial to refine the app's features, with a full rollout planned for Spring 2026.
