Moldova's e-Governance Agency Embarks on EU Digital Identity Wallet Journey
In a significant move towards enhancing its digital landscape, the e-Governance Agency of Moldova (AGE) has announced its participation in the second round of Large-Scale Pilot Projects (LSP) for the EU Digital Identity Wallet (EUDI). As part of the WE BUILD consortium, selected by the European Commission, this initiative marks Moldova's commitment to strengthening its role as a progressive digital nation aligned with European standards.
This project highlights Moldova's dedication to digital transformation, particularly as its IT sector continues to flourish. The Moldova Innovation Technology Park stands as a testament to this growth, accommodating over 2,100 companies from more than 40 different countries and contributing approximately 5% to the national gross domestic product (GDP). This thriving hub of innovation, coupled with a competitive 7% flat tax on revenue, has successfully attracted leading technology firms, further establishing Moldova as a key player in the regional digital landscape.
AGE's Role in Developing Digital Solutions
AGE will play a pivotal role in creating and testing secure Business-to-Government solutions that integrate digital wallets with various public services throughout the EU. The initiative aims to promote the exchange of best practices and support the widespread adoption of digital identity wallets for both public and private electronic services.
