Pony.ai Enters Singapore Market with Autonomous Vehicle Partnership

Pony.ai Expands Autonomous Driving Services to Singapore

Pony.ai, a prominent player in the autonomous driving sector, has officially announced its expansion into Singapore, marking a significant milestone in its global footprint. This strategic move comes through a collaboration with ComfortDelGro, Singapore's largest public transportation service provider, aiming to introduce autonomous vehicles (AVs) to the local commuting landscape.

Launch Plan in Singapore

The partnership, which began with a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in July 2024, is set to kick off its services in the Punggol area. Initial operations will feature fixed routes that cater to daily commuters. Once the necessary regulatory approvals are secured, services are expected to commence shortly, reinforcing Singapore's ambition to incorporate innovative mobility solutions into its transportation framework.

The deployment of Pony.ai's autonomous vehicles coincides with Singapore's broader strategy to enhance its existing transport network that includes taxis, ride-hailing services, and subways. With increasing driver shortages during off-peak hours, these autonomous services are expected to fill critical gaps in the transportation system, making commuting more efficient and available to everyone.

Previous Collaborative Experience

Pony.ai's collaboration with ComfortDelGro isn't new; it has roots in a previous pilot program in Guangzhou, launched in March 2025. This initiative provided substantial insights and served as a successful template for operations in Singapore. ComfortDelGro's extensive experience and established operational framework will be integral in adapting Pony.ai's advanced technology to local demands.

Dr. James Peng, the CEO of Pony.ai, expressed his excitement about introducing their technology in Singapore, emphasizing the company's commitment to enhancing daily commutes in a safe, reliable, and efficient manner. He stated, "With our cutting-edge autonomous driving technology, we aim to propel Singapore's vision for smart mobility forward."

Government Support for Autonomous Mobility

The support from Singapore’s Ministry of Transport is pivotal in this initiative. In June 2025, the ministry outlined plans to integrate AVs within public housing estates into the national public transport framework by year's end. The focus is primarily on the Punggol district, with an emphasis on bridging the connectivity challenges posed by existing transportation options.

Mr. Cheng Siak Kian, Managing Director and Group CEO of ComfortDelGro, commented on the partnership's potential, highlighting it as a combination of Pony.ai's innovative technology and their operational expertise. He mentioned that this expansion aligns with their vision for fosters sustainable, intelligent mobility solutions that benefit communities throughout Singapore.

Robust Global Strategy

Beyond Singapore, Pony.ai is racing ahead with various international initiatives. The company operates fully driverless commercial Robotaxi services across major Chinese cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen. With over 50 million kilometers of autonomous driving recorded globally and a user satisfaction rate exceeding 4.8 out of 5, Pony.ai is poised for further growth.

Recently, they also partnered with Karwa, Qatar’s leading transport service, and expanded testing in locations such as Luxembourg and Seoul, further solidifying their presence worldwide. This global strategy underscores Pony.ai's commitment to advancing autonomous technology and meeting the growing demands for efficient transportation vis-a-vis population growth and urban expansion.

Dr. Peng sees immense potential in the Southeast Asian markets, remarking on Singapore's outstanding transport infrastructure and government backing for autonomous solutions. As Pony.ai gears up for its initial launch, it aims to leverage Singapore as a pivotal launchpad for future growth within the region.

In sum, Pony.ai's strategic collaboration with ComfortDelGro promises to innovate the way residents in Singapore commute, paving the path for a smarter and more sustainable transport future, one that is in alignment with global trends in autonomous technology.
