Exciting Bob Dylan Auction to Feature Rare Artifacts and Recordings from Iconic Career

An Exclusive Bob Dylan Auction Awaits

Julien's Auctions is poised to unveil an extraordinary event titled “Celebrating Bob Dylan: The Aronowitz Archive, T Bone Burnett, & More” on January 18, 2025. This much-anticipated auction will take place at the prestigious Musicians Hall of Fame Museum in Nashville, Tennessee. The event showcases over 60 unique items, prominently featuring 50 artifacts from the collection of esteemed journalist Al Aronowitz.

A Peek into Iconic Artifacts

Among the standout pieces for auction are two pages containing three typewritten drafts of the lyrics to the well-known classic “Mr. Tambourine Man,” which are estimated to fetch between $400,000 and $600,000. Additionally, an early oil painting by Bob Dylan, created in 1968, is expected to sell for $200,000 to $300,000. A rare handbill from Dylan's inaugural major performance at Town Hall in New York City in 1963, along with vintage photographs and original sketches, will also be on display.

Yet, perhaps the most remarkable highlight of the auction is the one-of-a-kind Ionic Original disc of Bob Dylan’s new studio recording of “The Times They Are A-Changin’,” produced by Grammy-winning musician T Bone Burnett. This unique disc is estimated to be valued between $400,000 and $600,000 and marks the second time an Ionic Original recording has been made available to the public, following the successful auction of “Blowin' In The Wind” in 2022.

Reflections from the Family

Myles Aronowitz, son of Al Aronowitz, shared insights on his father’s legacy, emphasizing his remarkable ability to connect influential individuals. He noted, “My Father was this incredible connector... He introduced Allen Ginsberg to Bob Dylan, Bob Dylan to The Beatles... The collection represents my Father's instinctive ability to identify and connect with greatness.”

Meanwhile, T Bone Burnett expressed the emotional weight of hearing Dylan perform “The Times They Are A-Changin’” sixty years after its inception, calling the Ionic Original the definitive version of this timeless song.

Special Exhibition Details

In conjunction with the auction, a special exhibition featuring notable items from Al Aronowitz's collection will be available for public viewing from December 18, 2024, to January 17, 2025, at the Musicians Hall of Fame Museum. Among the exhibited items are a harmonica signed by Dylan, original lyrics for “Mr. Tambourine Man,” a Fender Telecaster guitar, and even an embellished Levi's denim jacket worn in the 1987 film “Hearts of Fire.”

This event will provide fans and collectors alike with a unique opportunity to acquire rare artifacts from the illustrious career of Bob Dylan and Al Aronowitz’s extensive archive.
