PMC Unveils Its First Exhibition Showcasing Custom Apparel Services
PMC, renowned for its all-encompassing apparel manufacturing capabilities, is set to launch its inaugural exhibition named
PMC SHOWROOM. This event will feature the latest items from various brands that PMC supports in their manufacturing processes. The company has adopted a scalable and efficient production system that begins with small initial lots sewn in its own factory, allowing for market response evaluation before transitioning to larger-scale production at partner factories in the Tokyo area.
The PMC SHOWROOM provides a unique opportunity for attendees to witness firsthand PMC's comprehensive approach spanning design, sewing, printing, and showcasing. This exhibition emphasizes PMC's commitment to supporting sustainable fashion manufacturing in an industry that grapples with significant waste.
The Background of One-Stop Apparel Factory
As of 2024, Japan's new clothing supply is estimated at approximately 822,000 tons. However, about 558,000 tons of this is expected to be discarded after use by households and businesses, leading to a shocking statistic: nearly 506,000 tons are estimated to be sent to waste disposal without any further utilization. Thankfully, some clothing is collected for reuse or other resource recovery efforts. Approximately 137,000 tons are reused, while around 191,000 tons are directed for resource recovery efforts.
In response to this concerning backdrop, PMC established its one-stop factory. It aims to serve consumers looking for bespoke clothing experiences while also supporting brands with a collaborative approach to sustainable production practices.
New B2B Ordering System
In conjunction with the exhibition, PMC is also introducing a new B2B order system that facilitates small lot orders starting from just one piece, linked to their e-commerce platform. Key features of this new system include:
- - Minimum lot settings for initial transactions
- - Flexible support for custom orders thereafter
- - Tailored product planning and added value for individual stores
- - A structure for accepting small orders of unique products from each retail location
By implementing this innovative ordering system, PMC is promoting sustainable apparel manufacturing that does not rely on mass production and excessive waste.
