Multiconsult Reports Improved Performance in Q3 2026 Despite Challenges
In the third quarter of 2026, Multiconsult exhibited steady performance with signs of improvement noted towards the latter part of the period. As reported on November 3, 2026, by the company, these positive changes are attributed to initial effects from strategies implemented to enhance operational efficiency. A closer look at financial figures reveals that the company’s net operating revenues saw an increase of 2.0% reaching NOK 1,219.7 million, alongside an encouraging order intake of NOK 1,355 million, marking a substantial 12.4% rise compared to the same quarter in the previous year.
Interim CEO Kristin Olsson Augestad noted that while the outcomes for this quarter did not meet the long-term goals set by the company, the developments observed in September were promising. "Order intake and cost control were solid, and measures we have implemented to enhance profitability are beginning to show results," she explained. However, it is essential to note that the company's profitability was negatively impacted by low activity levels during the summer months and transaction costs associated with the planned merger with Rejlers.
The reported EBITA amounted to NOK 6.3 million, which corresponds to a margin of 0.5%, contrasting with the previous year's 5.2%. When adjusted, the EBITA totaled NOK 45.0 million, equating to a margin of 3.7%. Notably, the billing ratio was steady at 70.1%, assisted by enhanced billing rates.
The merger with Rejlers represents a significant step in Multiconsult's strategy to establish a leading position in the Nordic consultancy market. The strategic alliance is projected to elevate the company to a prominent place, focusing on complex projects in sectors including energy, industry, and defense. The merger received approval from the general meetings of both companies on October 19, and the leaders of Multiconsult anticipate that the merger could conclude by year-end 2026, contingent upon necessary regulatory approvals.
Looking at the year to date, Multiconsult reported net operating revenues of NOK 4,354.7 million, reflecting a year-on-year growth of 5.3%. Challenges persisted as the EBITA of NOK 275.1 million showed a decline from the previous year, leading to a decrease in the EBITA margin to 6.3%. Nevertheless, the company reported a robust order intake of NOK 4,802 million. In the wake of the merger, the focus remains on operational performance and sales continuity as Multiconsult works towards fulfilling its growth objectives.
Despite the hurdles faced throughout the summer, the overall market outlook remains stable, according to the company, indicating resilience in its approach to future challenges. Multiconsult is determined to navigate the coming changes while ensuring ongoing operation and service quality across its divisions. The future looks promising as the merger with Rejlers is set to broaden the horizons for both companies, aiming to integrate their resources and expertise into a formidable consultancy entity in the Nordic region. This merger isn't merely a consolidation; it's a strategic move to unify strengths and build a comprehensive service platform in engineering and consultancy tasks across various sectors.
