Exhibition of Children's Art
In a wonderful initiative, the Tokyo Metropolitan Bureau of Transportation is showcasing the creativity of children at the Ichigaya Station's Promenade Gallery. This exhibition highlights the art created by young participants during the "Summer Exciting Kids Campaign," a part of the "Children's Smile Movement" in collaboration with the parenting information site "Tokyo Sukusuku".
Campaign Overview
In August of this year, the campaign invited children to become “kid reporters,” where they had the unique opportunity to interview professionals working in the Tokyo transport system, guided by veteran newspaper reporters. This experience allowed the children to express their insights and creativity through drawing and writing, ultimately resulting in the creation of colorful diaries and wall newspapers.
Exhibition Details
The exhibition will run from
October 1st to October 14th, 2023. It will feature a total of
30 pieces of artwork, consisting of
10 diaries and 20 wall newspapers created by elementary school students based on their experiences.
The displays will be located at the
Promenade Gallery near the A1 and A2 exits of Ichigaya Station (address: Kudansouth 4-8-22, Chiyoda-ku).
This is a fantastic chance for anyone passing through the station to appreciate the fresh perspectives captured in these works by the children. Furthermore, during the exhibition period, the select store “Toeiro” along the transport line will be offering exclusive original novelty gifts. The first
100 children under elementary school age who visit “Toeiro” will receive these exciting new items as a special treat!
Fun Side Activities
1. Kid Train Drivers - Children can challenge themselves to become train drivers using real simulators! In this hands-on activity, 20 elementary students experienced training with professional train operators, thus gaining valuable safety insights. The resulting artworks (10 diaries, 10 wall newspapers) will be displayed at the exhibition.
2. Bus Exploration Team - What’s it like in a maintenance factory? 10 lucky students were able to visit a bus maintenance facility where they observed professional mechanics checking and repairing vehicles. Their observational pieces (5 diaries, 5 wall newspapers) will also form part of the exhibition.
The exhibition will showcase not just the children’s work but also redefine the way they interact with their community and environment. We invite everyone, especially families, to attend this engaging event and encourage the growth and exploration of the next generation.
We are committed to continuing this kind of initiative to support the development and outings of families in the future.
We can’t wait to see you at Ichigaya Station, where the creativity of our children comes to life!
