South Mountain Creamery Expands Holiday Initiative to Feed Families
South Mountain Creamery (SMC), a family-owned dairy farm in Middletown, Maryland, is excited to announce its annual Holiday Turkey Donation Drive, which aims to provide
600 farm-fresh turkeys to families in need across Maryland, Virginia, and North Carolina. This year, they're doubling their previous target, reflecting a strong commitment to community support during the holiday season.
Starting
Black Friday, November 28, through
Cyber Monday, December 1, every turkey donation made will be matched by SMC, thus ensuring that more families can enjoy a hearty holiday meal. This initiative not only aids those in need but also strengthens local farming through its partnership with Sensenig Turkey Farm in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, known for its dedication to humane and high-quality poultry.
Effective collaboration is at the heart of this initiative. Trusted community organizations such as the
Maryland Food Bank,
Frederick Rescue Mission, and
Martha's Table will assist in distributing the turkeys to families who need them most. Additionally, the
Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the
Good News/Buenas Nuevas International Ministry in North Carolina are crucial partners in this outreach effort. As CEO Tony Brusco stated, “It’s a way for us—and our customers—to share good food and goodwill.”
Families looking to contribute can do so in various ways. Current customers can add a turkey donation to their home delivery orders, while those who wish to donate can purchase turkeys directly at SMC's retail locations or at the Baltimore 32nd Street Farmers Market. This approach not only helps those receiving the turkeys but also bolsters local agriculture.
Not stopping at turkeys, SMC encourages customers to pre-order additional holiday favorites such as chef-prepared sides, fresh-baked desserts, and other meal essentials through their online shop. The generosity of SMC extends beyond donations; every employee will receive a complimentary turkey as a token of appreciation for their hard work throughout the year.
"Community has always been at the heart of what we do," Brusco added. By fostering connections among team members, customers, and families receiving donations, SMC embodies a spirit of togetherness and care.
The drive will accept donations through
November 30, 2025, ensuring ample time for community members to give back. For more information or to donate, interested individuals can visit
