The Spire School Transitions Leadership to New Executive Director

The Spire School, a private therapeutic day school located in Stamford, Connecticut, recently marked a significant transition in its leadership. After 17 years of dedicated service, Dr. Tammy Moscrip, PhD, LCSW, stepped down from her role as Executive Director to pursue new opportunities. During her tenure, she played a pivotal role in shaping the school’s unique educational model, which integrates academic excellence with therapeutic support for students.

Celebrating Dr. Moscrip’s Legacy

Dr. Moscrip first joined The Spire School in 2010 as a life coach during its inaugural year. Her vision helped develop a distinctive educational environment that caters to the needs of college-bound students in grades 6-12. Under her leadership, The Spire School transformed from a small institution serving just seven students to a flourishing community of over 60 students.

Throughout her tenure, Dr. Moscrip spearheaded numerous initiatives that have significantly enhanced the school's offerings, including:

  • - NEASC Accreditation: Achieving accreditation helped open doors for more students and build strong partnerships with local school districts.
  • - Academic Expansion: Launching the UConn Early College Experience program broadened academic offerings in critical subjects like science, art, and music.
  • - Collaborative Leadership Model: She fostered a collaborative structure that empowered teachers, life coaches, and administrative staff, ensuring a supportive environment for students.
  • - Social Work Internship Program: This program established a framework for training future school social workers through practical experience.
  • - School Spirit Initiatives: By creating a school mascot and promoting student-led activities, she cultivated a sense of pride and community engagement.

Dr. Moscrip reflected on her journey, stating, "From the beginning, my goal was to establish a school where academic learning, emotional support, and social growth worked hand in hand. Together, we built a model that has effectively served hundreds of students and prepared them for meaningful lives. I am deeply grateful to our families, staff, and partners who made this journey possible."

Welcoming Thomas Laudadio

As Dr. Moscrip embarks on her next chapter, The Spire School is excited to welcome Thomas Laudadio, LCSW, as its new Executive Director. Laudadio brings over 20 years of administrative experience in therapeutic and special education settings with a strong commitment to inclusive education.

Commenting on his new role, Laudadio expressed his enthusiasm: "I am honored to join the Spire community. The school has a remarkable history of combining academic excellence with therapeutic support, and I look forward to building on that foundation as we continue to empower students in every stage of their journey."

With a dedicated focus on student-centered practices and an understanding of diverse educational needs, Laudadio is expected to ensure continuity in care and support for students and their families throughout this transition.

Victoria Newman, Founder and Senior Vice President of Greenwich Education Group, expressed her gratitude for Dr. Moscrip’s leadership, stating, "Tammy's visionary guidance has shaped The Spire School into the robust community it is today. We are equally excited to welcome Thomas, whose experience and compassion will guide the school into its next chapter."
