Hesai Technology Partners with Chery for Groundbreaking Lidar Innovation in Automotive Market

Hesai Technology is making significant strides in the automotive industry by securing design wins for various models of Chery Automobile. As the leading innovator in automotive lidar technology, Hesai recently announced these collaborations, which are set to begin mass production in the latter part of 2025. This partnership highlights both companies' commitment to enhancing smart driving solutions.

Chery, a prominent name in the automotive sector, has reported impressive growth in its global sales, achieving a 38% increase year-over-year and selling 2.6 million vehicles in 2024. The company anticipates surpassing the 3 million mark in vehicle deliveries this year. Known for being the largest exporter of Chinese-brand passenger vehicles, Chery has seen its total exports reach over 1.14 million vehicles in 2024—a notable 21.4% increase compared to the previous year.

In terms of technological innovation, the new generation of Hesai's ultra-compact, high-performance ATX lidar will be integrated into Chery's diverse range of vehicles, which includes passenger cars, commercial vehicles, and urban mobility options. The ATX lidar system will empower advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), facilitating safer and more efficient vehicle operation. Since its launch in April 2024, the ATX lidar has gained recognition among numerous leading automotive manufacturers, including prominent electric vehicle companies and key European and American original equipment manufacturer (OEM) joint ventures in China.

As of December 2024, Hesai Technology has achieved a remarkable milestone, receiving over 100 design wins across 21 automotive manufacturers, including industry leaders like Great Wall Motors and Changan. This rapid growth showcases the increasing demand for advanced lidar technology in modern vehicles and Hesai's position at the forefront of this transformation.

For 2025, Hesai plans to extend its annual production capacity to over 2 million units, backed by its robust manufacturing capabilities and continued investment in research and development. This growth is essential as the automotive industry leans more towards smart and connected vehicles, where safety and performance are paramount. The collaboration between Hesai and Chery represents a significant step towards a future where advanced lidar technology becomes a staple in the automotive industry.

In summary, the partnership between Hesai Technology and Chery Automobile is set to accelerate the evolution of automobile intelligence. The integration of cutting-edge lidar technology into various vehicle models marks a pivotal moment in enhancing vehicle safety and paving the way for more sophisticated driving systems. As mass production begins, both companies are poised to make a lasting impact on the automotive landscape in the coming years.
