Bulat Utemuratov Foundation Allocates 460 Million Tenge for Almaty Gasification Project

Bulat Utemuratov Foundation Invests in Almaty Gasification

The Bulat Utemuratov Foundation has recently announced a significant investment of 460 million tenge, equivalent to roughly 1 million USD, to support the ongoing gasification project in Almaty, Kazakhstan. This initiative aims to enhance the living conditions and air quality in the city, marking a pivotal step forward in urban infrastructure development.

In collaboration with the Almaty Akimat (city government), this project is designed to facilitate the transition of private homes from coal-based heating to natural gas. The Akimat will conduct inspections on private residences, providing residents with guidance on how to connect to the municipal gas supply, and offering comprehensive support throughout the process. Qualified contractors will be engaged to undertake necessary construction and installation work.

Mayor Darkhan Satybaldy emphasized the importance of connecting private residences to the city’s gas supply network, stating, "We continue to specifically work towards connecting homes to the city’s gas supply. Each case has varying requirements; therefore, it is essential to provide comprehensive support to residents from consultations to the actual connection, as well as the technical work involved. The backing from socially responsible companies allows us to expand this initiative."

The shift from coal to natural gas heating in homes is crucial for improving Almaty’s air quality. During the heating season, the use of solid fuels in the private sector remains a major source of pollution. Ainur Karbozova, the CEO of the Bulat Utemuratov Foundation, remarked, "Supporting a project focused on urban infrastructure development and creating better living conditions for the residents of Almaty is important to us. Gasification of the private sector will enable families who are not yet connected to the gas supply network to access a modern heating system. We are pleased to support this city initiative."

This gasification project is part of the Foundation's ongoing commitment to Almaty. Previously, the Foundation has undertaken significant initiatives in the city, including the comprehensive reconstruction of the Botanical Garden, modernization of the ventilation and air conditioning systems at the National Museum of Kazakhstan, and the establishment of one of the first Asyl Miras Centers for Autism. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Foundation also contributed to local healthcare by installing mobile PCR testing laboratories.

Overall, the Bulat Utemuratov Foundation's commitment to supporting Almaty's gasification project reflects its dedication to enhancing the quality of life for the city’s residents and addressing critical public health and environmental challenges. This initiative not only addresses immediate heating needs but also aligns with broader sustainability goals by reducing reliance on coal and improving air quality for everyone in Almaty.
