Mazda Achieves Prestigious IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK+ Awards in 2024
Mazda has proudly closed out 2024 with a remarkable feat in automotive safety. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) announced that Mazda has secured a total of eight distinguished TOP SAFETY PICK+ awards for its 2024 models. This recognition highlights Mazda's unwavering commitment to safety across its vehicle lineup, making it the top performer in the industry this year.
Among the award winners are the 2025 Mazda CX-70 and the 2025 Mazda CX-70 Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV), both achieving the highest accolade, the TOP SAFETY PICK+. Additionally, the 2025 CX-50, along with its Hybrid variant, earned this honor after undergoing stringent testing enhancements.
The 2024 awards are notable for the advancements in pedestrian collision prevention ratings, where the CX-50 improved its score significantly. Other Mazda models that also received the TOP SAFETY PICK+ award include the 2024-2025 Mazda3 Sedan and Hatchback, the CX-30, the CX-90, and the CX-90 PHEV.

To qualify for the prestigious TOP SAFETY PICK+ award, vehicles must demonstrate superior safety features, including: 1. Good ratings in small overlap front and updated side impact crash tests, 2. Acceptable or good ratings in the updated moderate overlap front test, with an emphasis on rear seat safety, 3. Acceptable or good ratings in pedestrian collision prevention tests, and 4. Acceptable or good-rated headlights.
