NAKED, INC. at the MEGA CANVAS Event
In an exciting collaboration, Naked, Inc. is proud to announce its involvement in the MEGA CANVAS project, a colossal projection mapping event set to take place near the Osaka/Kansai Expo venue starting June 6, 2025. Collaborating with Kakushin Co., Ltd., Naked will be responsible for producing breathtaking art pieces that highlight five central themes: Time, Place, Dreams, Smiles, and Culture.
The Significance of Naked, Inc.
Founded by Ryotaro Muramatsu in 1997, Naked, Inc. has been at the forefront of Japan’s projection mapping scene. The company has set a benchmark in creating immersive night-time experiences at iconic locations such as Tokyo Station, Shinjuku Gyoen, and the UNESCO World Heritage Site Nijo Castle. With MEGA CANVAS, Naked will debut a series of impressive video works that showcase the uniqueness of various regions in Osaka, including a monumental 130-meter panoramic display featuring spectacular visuals related to Osaka and Japan. This captivating series will continue to evolve, including collaborative projects with local businesses and schools.
Enhancing Osaka Tourism with a Unique Experience
The MEGA CANVAS project is co-hosted by the Osaka Prefectural Government and the Kansai Innovation Center, reinforcing the Expo's themes of “Designing a Society Where Life Shines” and “Creating a Future Society through Co-Creation.” This collaborative project brings together government bodies, businesses, and creators to deliver an innovative arts experience. The wall of the Yume Island Logistics Center, owned by Yokohama Reito Co., Ltd., serves as a giant canvas measuring 10 meters high and 130 meters wide, providing a platform to immerse international guests in an array of audio-visual experiences themed around time, place, dreams, smiles, and culture.
Exquisite Visual Displays
First Example: A warehouse wall transforms into a massive aquarium, where the main character, a whale shark, swims leisurely among myriad sea creatures. Adding an element of whimsy, delicacies synonymous with Osaka flow underwater, crafting a humorous and refreshing narrative amidst the serene ocean backdrop.
Second Example: The second visual display intertwines Japan's traditional fireworks with kaleidoscopic light effects, creating a mesmerizing art piece. Vibrant particles of light dance across the night sky, stirring the hearts of onlookers. Starting in August, illustrations of dreams for the future drawn by local children will also be integrated into the fireworks display.
