Lucid Air Grand Touring Sets New Standard in Electric Vehicle Range at NAF Winter Test 2026
Lucid Air Grand Touring Achieves Unprecedented Range in 2026 NAF Winter Test
In a significant milestone for electric vehicles, the Lucid Air Grand Touring has secured a remarkable victory at the 2026 NAF Winter Test, organized by the Norges Automobil-Forbund (NAF). The vehicle achieved an impressive driving range of 520 kilometers, outpacing its nearest competitor, which only managed 421 kilometers, even under extremely challenging winter conditions. This year's test was the coldest on record, with temperatures plummeting to minus 31 degrees Celsius while the vehicle traversed snow-laden roads.
The journey began in Oslo, Norway’s capital, and included a varied terrain ranging from urban traffic to scenic highlands, as well as highway and rural roads. The entire trip was completed without a need to recharge, showcasing the advanced capabilities of Lucid’s electric powertrain technology.
The Cutting-Edge Technology Behind Lucid Air
At the heart of the Lucid Air Grand Touring lies an innovative electric powertrain that sets the benchmark in the industry. With a WLTP range of up to 960 kilometers and a combined energy consumption of just 13.5 kWh/100 km, this vehicle is not only efficient but also exceptionally powerful, boasting 611 kW (831 horsepower). Moreover, it can accelerate to a top speed of 270 km/h. One of its most remarkable features is the fast-charging capability, which allows it to regain up to 400 kilometers of range in just 16 minutes.
Lawrence Hamilton, President of Lucid Europe, expressed immense pride in the vehicle’s performance during the NAF Winter Test, stating, “I believe it's fair to say that the Lucid Air Grand Touring is the queen of the lineup, even in extreme winter conditions. This test provides valuable insights into electric vehicle performance in real-world scenarios and highlights the remarkable advancements we’ve made.”
Previous Achievements
Prior to this winter test, the Lucid Air Grand Touring already made headlines in summer 2025 by setting a record for the longest range achieved during the NAF Summer Test, traveling 828.6 kilometers, thus surpassing the previous record of 672 kilometers from 2023. Additionally, the vehicle holds the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for the longest distance covered by an electric car on a single charge, having achieved a staggering 1,205 kilometers in July 2025.
