Freeride World Tour Overview
The Freeride World Tour (FWT) is a prominent international competition in the world of freeride skiing and snowboarding, which began in Switzerland in 1996. With over 150 events and 5,500 registered athletes globally, the FWT has gained significant recognition, especially as it transitions towards becoming an official event under the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) by 2024. This exciting shift could lead to its inclusion in future Olympic Games, generating substantial interest in the sport.
The FWT JAPAN SERIES started in 2017, with their inaugural event held in Hakuba, Nagano Prefecture. Each year, approximately 300 participants from around the world join the competition. The 2026 TOYO TIRES FWT JAPAN SERIES will take place from late January to early March, featuring three major events.
Mammut's Commitment
Starting from the 2025 edition of the FWT JAPAN SERIES, Mammut's extensive ski collection is set to be the official ski wear, showcasing the brand's commitment to facilitating peak performance for judges and staff. This collection includes the Eiger Free series, designed for the extreme conditions of freeride skiing, and the versatile Stoney series, which balances performance and environmental respect. Mammut prioritizes safety while enabling participants and staff to perform at their best.
Mammut also serves as the official safety partner, emphasizing its commitment to fostering a safe competitive environment. With the recently revamped Barryvox S2 and Barryvox 2, vital avalanche rescue equipment becomes a crucial aspect of the competition. These devices now boast intuitive voice guidance and a lighter, slimmer design, reducing stress for users and enhancing performance and safety for participants.
