Universal Technical Institute and NAPA Launch 2025 Summer Ignite for Aspiring Young Technicians

Universal Technical Institute and NAPA's Summer Ignite Program for Youth

In an exciting announcement from Phoenix, Arizona, Universal Technical Institute (UTI) and NAPA have unveiled their collaboration for the 2025 Summer Ignite program designed specifically for high school juniors. This initiative is poised to offer students invaluable hands-on experience in automotive and motorcycle repair, setting the stage for promising careers in the transportation industry.

A Focus on Skills and Careers

The Summer Ignite program consists of an intensive three-week training course, designed to immerse students in the fundamentals of automotive technology. The program aims to address the industry's growing demand for skilled technicians, which has surged in recent years. Tracy Lorenz, Division President of UTI, emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, "As the demand for skilled technicians remains robust, and with Gen Z exploring educational paths outside traditional four-year degrees, Summer Ignite provides an essential gateway into technology-driven transportation careers."

Benefits for Participants

Notably, students who complete the course and pass the associated exams will not only gain valuable skills but will also earn transfer credits towards future programs at UTI. This benefits students financially, as they can reduce their educational expenses while simultaneously enhancing their technical capabilities.

Furthermore, NAPA has committed to supporting all Summer Ignite participants by providing three uniform shirts free of charge. Emily Schneider, Senior Director of Marketing at NAPA, highlighted the significance of careers in automotive technology. "Automotive technicians are in high demand, and this profession empowers young people to take control of their career path meaningfully," she remarked.

Transformative Experiences

Jeremy Oskins, an alum of UTI and the Automotive and Robotics Instructor at Comanche High School, shared inspiring insights from last year's Summer Ignite participants. He noted how students began to connect classroom learning with real-life applications, as they engaged with technology and systems they had previously only encountered in video games. "The experience was transformative. Thanks to Summer Ignite, their interest in the field is turning into a career path, with several enrolling at UTI this fall," Oskins remarked, underscoring the program's positive impact on students.
