Bobcat Company and Josh Duhamel Support Los Angeles Fire Department
In an inspiring act of generosity, award-winning actor and director Josh Duhamel made a surprise visit to the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) Station 88. He arrived with a significant gift: a brand-new Bobcat UV34XL utility vehicle, a donation made under Bobcat's nationwide initiative called "Work Worth Doing." This program is designed to honor the efforts of everyday heroes, and Duhamel's involvement highlights the importance of supporting those who serve in our communities.
During the visit, Duhamel personally handed over the keys to the utility vehicle, recognizing the LAFD's first-ever full-time, paid wildland hand crew dedicated to controlling and mitigating wildfires. "I think this is some of the most honorable work that you can do," Duhamel stated. "It takes a special kind of person to sign up as a firefighter, especially in a place like Los Angeles where wildfires run rampant. We believe, myself and Bobcat, that the firefighters deserve the best tools out there, and that's why we wanted to donate this machine.” Duhamel’s words resonate deeply, reminding us that supporting those who protect our communities is essential work.
The Bobcat UTV will play a crucial role on the front lines for LAFD’s hand crew, providing them with the tools necessary to execute their mission effectively. Captain Adam VanGerpen, the Public Information Officer for the LAFD, expressed gratitude for the donation, stating, "This will enhance our hand crew's efficiency in mitigating and fighting wildfires, enabling us to achieve so much more in our mission to keep the community safe."
Bobcat has committed to further supporting the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation by donating a portion of the proceeds from the sale of a limited-edition hat that Duhamel wore during his visit. This act of philanthropy contributes to enhancing firefighting capabilities in the region and showcases the company's commitment to community service.
The "Work Worth Doing" initiative was launched in May, with previous events including a surprise donation of a Bobcat compact track loader to Jason Shields, a U.S. veteran and founder of Hoof Haven Sanctuary, which rescues and rehabilitates horses. The initiative will continue throughout 2025, with Bobcat ambassadors like country musician Justin Moore and professional BMX rider Ryan Nyquist expected to meet and reward community members making a difference.
Individuals looking to get involved can share their own acts of service and community support on social media by tagging @BobcatCompany and using the hashtag #WorkWorthDoing.
