IWATA Opens New Custom Bedding Store in Gotanda
On September 11, 2025, IWATA Co., Ltd., headquartered in Kyoto, will launch its latest custom bedding store in the Gotanda TOC Building on the 4th floor. Relocating from the Living Design Center OZONE, the Curatorium Gotanda will create a tranquil space dedicated to enhancing the quality of sleep.
Overview of the New Store
Curatorium Gotanda
Curatorium Gotanda is designed as an editorial space where serenity meets relaxation. With a foundation built on the artistry of custom bedding, this unique establishment will showcase a cushion gallery and an archive filled with literature related to sleep. It embodies a delicate aesthetic that intertwines sensory experience and intellectual engagement, allowing visitors to cherish the passage of time and the beauty of restful slumber.
Custom Bedding
IWATA puts significant emphasis on tailoring bedding to meet individual needs, ensuring comfort with every night's sleep. The store will offer a variety of products including mattresses, beds, bed linens, and pillows—each crafted with quality materials and meticulous attention to detail. Customers can expect a genuine sense of comfort that deepens with use, representing the essence of high-quality sleep.
Cushion Gallery
The gallery space is designed to invite interaction and exploration. Each cushion, crafted with carefully selected materials, encourages you to touch, relax, and embrace your personal comfort. Visitors can experience variations in purpose, texture, and visual appeal, truly engaging their senses in the process.
Sleep Archive: Yoshida Library
Curatorium Gotanda also features a knowledge archive known as the Yoshida Library, which traces the memories associated with sleep. Within this peaceful atmosphere, visitors can explore the nature of slumber through the extensive collection gathered over half a century by the late Shigeru Yoshida. Known for his contributions to the bedding industry, Yoshida's legacy lives on through this curated literary collection.
Shigeru Yoshida began his career at the Japan Bedding Newspaper in 1970, covering the industry as a reporter for over 50 years. He later founded the monthly publication "Living Business" dedicated to bedding and interior design. Even after his retirement in August 2020, Yoshida continued his engagement with the industry through interactions with colleagues and contributed writings focused on antique books related to bedding.
