Fotrasta Welcomes New Leaders to Propel Space Missions Forward

Fortastra Expands Leadership Team to Accelerate Development of Mission-Ready Space Systems

In a strategic move to enhance its engineering and operational capabilities, Fortastra Corporation has appointed three experienced leaders to its executive team. This development comes as the company aims to meet the demands of modern space infrastructure and support national security and commercial missions.

New Additions to Fortastra’s Leadership Team

The newly appointed leaders are Josh Jetter, Sahil Desai, and Arnold Nowinski. Their combined experience in aerospace and defense will aid Fortastra’s ambition to redefine space operations.

Chief Technology Officer: Josh Jetter

Josh Jetter has been appointed as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO). He will be instrumental in overseeing Fortastra's engineering functions that encompass design, manufacturing, integration, and operational processes. Prior to joining Fortastra, Jetter held significant roles at Relativity Space, where he served as Senior Director of Avionics Engineering, and at Impossible Aerospace as their Director of Engineering. His vast experience, including time at SpaceX with hardware development for Starlink, positions him well to align product strategy with evolving mission-critical needs. Jetter anticipates collaborating closely with customers to innovate and implement strategies that adapt to technological requirements.

Vice President of Product: Sahil Desai

Joining the team as Vice President of Product is Sahil Desai. He will focus on developing product strategies that meet the needs of both defense and commercial sectors. Desai began his career in the Intelligence Community and transitioned to serve as Director of Programs at Hermeus Corporation. His collaboration with Fortastra's CEO Mike Smayda has equipped him with insights to enhance Fortastra's operational frameworks and secure pivotal contracts in hypersonics. His goal is to ensure that Fortastra produces technologies that are not only innovative but also mission-ready under pressures from evolving security challenges.

Vice President of People: Arnold Nowinski

Arnold Nowinski will serve as Vice President of People, leveraging over 25 years of experience in commercial, civil, and Defense Department initiatives. His most recent position was with Astrion, where he led a robust team of engineers on various U.S. Space Force and NASA programs. Nowinski's history of developing safety systems at SpaceX and his tenure in the U.S. Air Force provide a strong foundation for building effective teams to support Fortastra's rapid expansion.

A Vision for the Future

Mike Smayda, CEO of Fortastra, emphasized the urgency of leadership diversity as the company navigates into what they project as the next epoch in space operations. He firmly believes that the unique perspectives Jetter, Desai, and Nowinski bring to the table will propel Fortastra toward achieving its ambitious objectives in both government and commercial partnerships.

Josh Jetter expressed his excitement about contributing to Fortastra's mission, stating, "I've dedicated my career to advancing aerospace systems and am eager to tackle the challenges at Fortastra to secure vital assets in orbit."

Sahil Desai echoed similar enthusiasm regarding the company’s capabilities, noting that modern space missions necessitate cutting-edge, operational technologies that Fortastra is ready to provide.

Conceiving teams adept in supporting the fast-paced growth of the space economy, Arnold emphasizes that curating a skilled workforce at Fortastra is paramount for their ongoing success.

Financial Backing and Growth Potential

Fotrasta recently secured over $8 million in seed financing, spearheaded by Upfront Ventures along with contributions from Generational Partners, Wave Function Ventures, Bloomberg Beta, and Forward Deployed VC. This financial infusion signals strong investor confidence and places Fortastra in an advantageous position within the burgeoning space technology field.
