Global Roadshows Propel the 138th Canton Fair to New Heights
The 138th China Import and Export Fair, commonly known as the Canton Fair, has recently wrapped up a global promotion campaign featuring a series of roadshows that occurred between July and September in ten different countries. This initiative was aimed at enhancing international trade cooperation, featuring notable venues across Japan, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Uzbekistan, Thailand, Bangladesh, Australia, Malaysia, Turkey, and the United Kingdom. The events garnered positive recognition from local business communities, emphasizing the Canton Fair's long-standing commitment to promoting global commerce.
During the promotional activities in Turkey and the UK, Zhang Sihong, the Deputy General Manager of the China Foreign Trade Centre (CFTC), highlighted the fair’s guiding principle: “Canton Fair, Global Share.” Zhang encouraged international buyers to utilize the Canton Fair's digital tools, particularly its official application, to effectively plan their visits and connect with China’s vast supply chains. This digital engagement is part of a broader strategy to enhance the fair's accessibility and utility.
In Australia and Malaysia, CFTC's Deputy General Manager Su Bin pointed out the complementary nature of the Chinese and Australian economies, as well as the deep-rooted partnership between China and Malaysia. Su urged attendees to take full advantage of the fair as a platform for seizing business opportunities during a period of vibrant bilateral trade dynamics.
Similarly, in both Japan and Mongolia, CFTC's Ma Fengmin emphasized the historical contributions of Japanese buyers to the fair and noted the growing presence of Mongolian companies. Ma assured participants that the upcoming edition of the Canton Fair would feature higher-quality exhibitors, a broader range of supporting activities, and improved services tailored for international buyers.
In Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, Liu Xiaomin, an exhibition director at CFTC, underscored the fair's role as a dependable sourcing destination for quality products. He cited Kazakhstan's status as China's primary trading partner, alongside Uzbekistan’s increasing market demands, as evidence of the fair's regional influence.
Accessing the needs of local markets was also a key theme expressed by Xu Jiansheng, CFTC's Operations Director, during events held in Thailand and Bangladesh. He depicted the fair as a golden bridge for expanding cooperation in textiles, machinery, and home appliances, reflecting local economic aspirations and requirements.
In tandem with the promotional events, the CFTC conducted thorough market research by visiting leading retailers such as Don Quijote in Japan, Coles in Australia, Lotus's in Malaysia, and Currys in the UK. Notably, a comprehensive partnership agreement was signed with the Almaty branch of the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs “Atameken” in Kazakhstan.
Set to commence on October 15 in Guangzhou, the 138th Canton Fair is anticipated to offer a more refined exhibition structure, enhanced product quality, diverse events, and thoughtfully designed services for international buyers. This commitment to excellence is part of the Canton Fair's ongoing initiative to solidify its position as a premier platform for global trade.
