Esaote Expands Its Presence in the Netherlands

Esaote, a prominent player in the medical imaging sector, has recently inaugurated its new office in Maastricht, marking a significant milestone in its three-decade presence in the Netherlands. The new facility not only enhances the company's operational capacity but also symbolizes its unwavering commitment to the local market.

Over the years, Esaote has established itself as a key player in Maastricht with four subsidiaries: Esaote Europe B.V., Pie Medical Imaging B.V., 3mensio Medical Imaging B.V., and Proton B.V. Collectively, these entities employ 155 specialists dedicated to sales, services, research and development, and production.

With ambitions to foster continued growth, Esaote plans to innovate within the ultrasound and medical IT sectors. The company focuses particularly on developing cutting-edge software solutions for interventional cardiologists and cardiac surgeons. This includes advanced cardiac imaging, endovascular analysis, and preoperative planning tools, aiming to enhance patient care and surgical efficiency.

To support these initiatives, Esaote will invest approximately 10 million euros in research and development over the next five years, targeting advancements in medical IT solutions specifically for cardiology. The company anticipates a 50% increase in its workforce as a direct result of these expansion efforts.

Founded in Italy in the early 1980s, Esaote has grown to become a global leader in medical imaging, boasting a workforce of around 1,300 employees across 15 subsidiaries and a distribution network reaching over 100 countries. The CEO of Esaote, Franco Fontana, explained, “The exceptional academic institutions and innovation-driven environment in the Netherlands provide an ideal setting for our continued operational expansion. Access to top-tier universities and research centers allows us to attract highly skilled talent and develop cutting-edge solutions, reinforcing our industry leadership.”

René Guillaume, the CEO of Esaote Europe, announced, “This strategic investment reflects our strong confidence in the future of the market and our commitment to creating long-term value. This milestone demonstrates our vision to drive innovation, empower communities, and generate sustainable growth for our stakeholders.”

The new office opening was attended by notable guests including Hubert Mackus, the Economic Affairs Councilor of Maastricht, and Ir. Bas Lemmens, the Director of Business Development Projects at Maastricht University.

Esaote has solidified its position as a leader in medical imaging, focusing on ultrasound and magnetic resonance technologies, as well as diagnostic process management software. The company dedicates around 13% of its consolidated sales to R&D annually, underlining its commitment to advancing medical technology. With research and production facilities in Genoa and Florence, as well as various operational units in both Italy and the Netherlands, Esaote continues to shape the future of medical diagnostics on a global scale.
