Visa Family Day 2026: Celebrating Connections Beyond Work

Visa Celebrates Family Connections with 2026 Visa Family Day

In an effort to cultivate a workplace culture where every individual is respected and encouraged to thrive, Visa Worldwide Japan held its 2026 Visa Family Day on August 21 at the Tokyo office. The event, which continues from 2023, is designed to show appreciation for the vital roles played by employees' families and partners, enhancing understanding of the company's business and culture while fostering connections among people.

This year's event welcomed over 150 participants, including employees and their families, who enjoyed opportunities for intergenerational exchange and engaged with Visa’s core values. The event was organized and executed primarily by Visa's Inclusion & Diversity (I&D) team, offering a variety of activities designed to be enjoyable for both children and adults alike.

At the opening ceremony, Arturo Planell, President of Visa Japan, greeted the participants, expressing gratitude for the support provided by the families and loved ones of employees. He shared his experiences since taking on his role in July, highlighting the importance of familial support in the success of Visa's team members.

Participants experienced office tours and hands-on sessions with contactless payment technology, deepening their understanding of Visa’s business and work environment. Additionally, the event included paper racing car construction and racing experiences courtesy of STEM Racing Japan, as well as sessions to learn about American Sign Language (ASL), enriching participants’ appreciation of creativity, hands-on creation, and diverse communication methods.

In collaboration with ZERO GYM, a wellness program provider, activities were also organized for families, such as fitness checks and chair yoga sessions. Participants of all ages enjoyed these activities, learning about health and well-being while rejuvenating their minds and bodies.

Reflecting on the Family Day, Arturo Planell remarked, “Meeting the families and loved ones who support our employees was particularly memorable. The achievements of each employee are often backed by their families’ encouragement, and this day was a precious opportunity to express gratitude towards those supporting our workforce.” He emphasized that the event helped foster connections within the Visa community, reinforcing the importance of relationships that the company values.

Similarly, Akemi Matsui, Visa Japan’s Leader of Inclusion & Diversity, noted the enthusiastic participation of individuals from various age groups, each engaging in activities tailored to their interests. She recognized the spontaneous interactions among participants from diverse backgrounds, creating tangible experiences of inclusion that Visa cherishes. Matsui expressed her hope that Family Day would serve as a memorable experience, fostering new discoveries and connections among employees.

As an organization, Visa emphasizes the importance of connections not only among employees but also with their families, partners, and friends. The company commits to promoting an inclusive workplace where everyone feels valued and can express their unique abilities, ensuring ongoing support for the employees and their loved ones.
