The Joy of Discovery: A Unique Photography Exhibition at COPYCENTER GALLERY

Unique Photography Exhibition: "Eternalpole Yamabiko"

Starting from July 19 to July 26, 2025, COPYCENTER GALLERY will host the group exhibition titled "Eternalpole Yamabiko", showcasing the works of six distinct photographers: Kazuya Yoshino, Misaki Tsuge, Shimpei Nishioka, Ryunosuke Fujie, Hana Yamamoto, and Yuki Ishida. Each artist brings a unique perspective, having made their mark in various notable platforms since the 2000s.

In an innovative twist, the artists have not convened together except for the curator, Samasa Sissistar. Each of them is expected to contribute their individual creative processes to the exhibition space without any prior discussions. Curator Sissistar states that this exhibition includes elements that will make it memorable, leaving us curious about what these surprises entail. Attendees are encouraged to visit and discover the exhibition for themselves.

A Word from the Curator

The theme of this exhibition revolves around Yamabiko, a term that symbolizes the echoes that resonate with the majestic mountains far away, akin to the multi-faceted interpretations and various uses of photography. It showcases how photography connects with everyone in numerous ways, allowing for a rich tapestry of expressions.

The artists represent a formidable mix of backgrounds, styles, and techniques that promise to offer an unforgettable experience to the visitors of this multi-dimensional photography exhibition. As we pursue the essence of what a profound exhibition involves, we strive to create a space that embodies the joy of discovery. This exhibition invites everyone to confront unexpected gems of art and engage in a transformative experience—engaging with content that transcends the ordinary.

The ongoing challenges faced by emerging photographers, especially following the conclusion of significant photography competitions, have led to what can be deemed a loss of discovery for many. Samasa Sissistar reflects on how this situation has spurred the initiative to create the exhibition, aiming to rekindle the excitement that emerged from earlier independent photo events.

With artists like Yuki Ishida, who participated in notable shows in the past, the exhibition draws inspiration from earlier famous events that celebrated pure photographic expression. Elements such as the "Ikki Ikki Happy Happy Photo New Year" event showcase how timeless the joy of photography is when shared within our community.

In our contemporary landscape, it is essential to foster an environment where art transcends mere understanding, creating a lasting imprint within our hearts. The hope is that this exhibition will serve as a catalyst for fresh experiences for everyone involved, bridging diverse perspectives and inspiring new insights into the world of photography. The thematic exploration of love, memory, and human connection through these photographic expressions reinforces this desire.
