Pyxus International Reports FQ2 2027 Results: Positive Earnings Growth and Adjusted EBITDA Guidance

Pyxus International Reports Second Quarter Fiscal 2027 Results

On November 5, 2026, Pyxus International, Inc. (OTCID: PYYX) announced its financial performance for the second quarter of fiscal year 2027, outlining a significant increase in its net income. The report highlights the company's firm positioning in the global value-added agricultural sector.

Highlights of the Financial Results

During the second quarter ending September 30, 2026, Pyxus reported net income attributable to the company of $4.1 million, a considerable improvement compared to a net loss of $0.9 million in the same period last year. This positive shift was bolstered by a $9.1 million gain on the sale of its tobacco processing facility in Araranguá, Brazil, along with favorable income tax expenses.

CEO Pieter Sikkel commented, “We closed the second quarter well positioned to execute a heavily weighted second half. Throughout the quarter, we deployed working capital with discipline, aligning crop purchases directly with customer commitments.” The company's focus on aligning its purchasing strategy with customer demand has led to enhanced outcomes in net leverage, which improved to 5.86x.

However, not all metrics indicated growth. Pyxus's total sales and other operating revenues for the second quarter decreased to $534.4 million, down from $570.2 million year-on-year, largely due to delayed shipments from Asia and minor crops from certain regions. Shipment timing issues in North America also played a role in this decline, contributing to a drop of $106.8 million in the first half of fiscal 2027 compared to the same timeframe in the prior year.

Despite these challenges, gross profit margins remained relatively stable, with a minor decrease to 14.8%, while the first half of fiscal 2027 reflected an increase in gross profit as a percentage of sales to 14.4% compared to 14.2% in the previous fiscal year.

A Closer Look at Key Financial Metrics

Operating income for Q2 stood at $40 million, a decrease from $46.7 million in Q2 of fiscal 2026, primarily due to the lower gross profit resulting from the reduced sales volume. The first half operating income was recorded at $55.6 million, down from $67.7 million the previous year.

Moreover, cash flow generation witnessed improvement on a trailing twelve-month basis, driven by a disciplined purchasing strategy which offset any timing issues regarding sales and customer cash collections. This efficiency led to a reduction in net debt by $13.6 million, bringing it down to $1,250.5 million at the end of Q2, compared to $1,264.1 million from the same point last year.

Total leaf tobacco inventories saw a decline of $71.9 million, amounting to $1,030.9 million, primarily due to lower purchases in green tobacco. The company reported an increase in uncommitted inventory, which rose to $42.4 million, up from $19.5 million the previous year, reflecting larger crops from prior cycles.

Outlook for Fiscal Year 2027

The company has adapted its fiscal year 2027 outlook, tightening its Adjusted EBITDA guidance to between $215 million and $235 million, anticipating net sales to fall between $2.3 billion and $2.5 billion. This revised forecast reflects increased visibility into expected operating performance and aligns with the ongoing strong demand for their products.

Sikkel noted, “Our improved margins and strong ongoing customer demand further support our outlook, and we are tightening our full-year Adjusted EBITDA guidance.”
