Tokyo's New Illusionary Masterpiece: Asakusa's Theatre Awaits You

Experience the Magic of Asakusa's Newest Show

The buzz is palpable around the theatrical performance titled Asakusa Kitan: Yagotoizanau Itsuwari no Tsuki yo, set to be held from November 7-9, 2025 at Asakusa Kyugeki located at 2-16-2 Asakusa, Taito, Tokyo. Following the successful debut of Shunya Shibuya's earlier show, which sold out before opening night, excitement is building for this next installment brought to life by the innovative mind of a rising star in magic.

The show invites audiences into a world where magic meets drama, aiming for a seamless fusion that promises to captivate viewers with extraordinary illusions and theatrical flair. Shunya Shibuya, born on May 12, 1998, has an impressive background, having been introduced to magic at the age of five. He made his stage debut as an elementary school student and ventured into dance at eleven, where his unique blend of dance and magic has garnered attention both domestically and internationally.

Shibuya's first production, Kuroi Meruhen: Tsumujikaze no Gekkōrō, won accolades and was met with acclaim, entirely selling out its shows. This time, he returns with an even grander vision. Welcoming talented director Kim Mo-Chin, renowned for his work with the prestigious Shinjuku Rōyampaku theater group, they draw inspiration from the fantastical works of Edogawa Rampo, known for his love of magic and narratives that flirt with the surreal.

The centerpiece of the performance will be the unique choreography and visual storytelling that showcases the evolution of Shibuya's artistry. Continuing to explore different mediums of expression, he redefines what it means to experience live magic. Shinbi-Box, the creative space he founded, will expand its artistic horizons, making this event a not-to-be-missed occasion for magic enthusiasts and theatergoers alike.

In addition to a compelling storyline, the audience will be graced with live music from special guests Kuroi Sumire, a talented duo featuring Yuka on vocals and piano and Sachi on violin. With their blend of classical elements and nostalgic compositions that resonate with themes from various arts, they will elevate the otherworldly atmosphere of the performance. Their repertoire ranges widely, from contributions to theatrical productions to feature appearances in animations, showcasing their dynamic range and creative versatility.
