FOTON Unveils Comprehensive Product Range at IAA Transportation 2026 in Hannover
On September 14, 2026, the IAA Transportation 2026 kicked off in Hannover, and BAIC FOTON seized the opportunity to showcase its complete range of vehicles and components designed in-house. This event marks a crucial step in the company’s strategy to shift from traditional export practices to a more integrated global value chain model in commercial vehicles.
A Milestone in Vehicle Deliveries
FOTON recently reached a significant milestone by delivering its 13 millionth vehicle globally, which is notably the GALAXUS 9, tested in Spain. This achievement emphasizes FOTON's commitment to expanding its presence in the European market, focusing on high-end long-distance vehicles. With operations spread across more than 140 countries, the company has set ambitious goals for 2030, intending to have 50% of its sales coming from new energy vehicles. Additionally, they aim for international sales to make up 40% of total sales, with Europe being a central strategic focus.
FOTON is committed to the motto "In Europe, for Europe," tailoring its products to local needs while forming strategic alliances and developing the capabilities of its ecosystem. The product lineup includes battery electric vehicles (BEVs), hybrid models, and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, with diverse offerings ranging from heavy trucks and buses to light commercial vehicles and pickups.
Plans for a Sustainable Ecosystem
By 2028, FOTON plans to establish a local ecosystem centered around new energy vehicles, including a sales network spread across nearly 20 European markets, over 300 service locations, a spare parts center in Germany, and local assembly operations. Moreover, its subsidiary, BROCK, is set to enhance connected services, ensuring that FOTON remains at the forefront of smart vehicle technology.
The World Premiere of CAVAN BEACON
One of the highlights at IAA was the global debut of the CAVAN BEACON, a smart, zero-emission heavy-duty truck designed for long-distance transport. This innovative vehicle features a flexible platform that offers 15 variants with options for battery electric, battery swapping, and both gaseous and liquid hydrogen. The truck boasts ultra-fast charging capabilities, allowing for a significant charge from 20% to 80% in just 18 minutes, thus facilitating efficient long-haul travels.
With an impressive range of over 600 km on electric power and 1,000 km using hydrogen, the CAVAN BEACON is equipped with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and is prepared for Level 4 autonomous driving. Furthermore, the energy consumption is reduced by 15%, with the electric 6×4 variant consuming only 115 kWh per 100 km. The vehicle's cabin is designed for driver comfort, featuring AI voice assistance, dual screens, and a spacious sleeping area.
A Complete Showcase of Automotive Innovation
At the Hannover event, FOTON presented an extensive array of seven vehicles, including the GALAXUS R9 PHEV, CAVAN BEACON, eGALAXUS D3, DAYSTAR, CAVAN C1, TUNLAND V9 PHEV, and eAURORA, alongside six key components such as batteries, electronic control systems, electric axles, and megawatt charging technology. This diverse portfolio emphasizes FOTON's technological capabilities from various operational perspectives.
As the automotive industry continues to evolve, BAIC FOTON is progressing towards internationalization, focusing on new energy solutions and intelligent development. The company is determined to establish itself as a leading global player in the commercial vehicle sector, paving the way for sustainable transportation solutions worldwide.
