First Career Exploration Workshop for Teens Scheduled for May 2026

Upcoming Career Exploration Workshop

The Global Learner’s Institute (GLI) is set to host its inaugural Career Exploration Workshop on May 9, 2026. This event is specifically designed for teenagers and their parents, aiming to support students aiming for boarding schools both domestically and internationally. The workshop will provide insights into university entrance exams, showcasing success stories from GLI students who were accepted to esteemed universities such as Keio University and St. Luke's International University without heavy reliance on cram schools.

Why is Career Exploration Important Now?

Today's university entrance exams are evolving significantly. The shift from a narrow focus on academic scores to a broader evaluation that includes:
  • - Comprehensive selection and recommendation admissions,
  • - Early preparation,
  • - Quality of motivation statements, and
  • - Accumulated extracurricular achievements
has reshaped the landscape of university admissions. Unfortunately, many families find themselves perplexed by this transition, often unsure about the steps to take to start their preparation.

What Will Attendees Gain?

Participants will delve into practical strategies drawn from actual success cases. The agenda includes:
  • - Choosing the right university and major,
  • - Deciding between liberal arts and sciences,
  • - When and how to begin test preparation,
  • - Finding and articulating a compelling motivation statement,
  • - Considering study abroad as an option and how to achieve it,
  • - Understanding the financial aspects of entrance exams.

Notably, successful alumni will also join us, offering firsthand accounts of their experiences.

Understanding the Lack of Motivation

One significant barrier to sustained study motivation among students is the lack of clear goals and pathways. The workshop aims to clarify the examination system and help participants design a robust career trajectory, providing concrete steps for action.

Encouraging Parental Involvement

Career decision-making is typically not a solo endeavor for students. Effective decision-making requires parental involvement and support. Thus, we strongly encourage both students and their parents to attend this event together. However, attendance from parents or students alone is also welcome.
