Almedia Announces Entry into Japanese Market with Koji Sakakura as Country Manager

Almedia Expands to Japan

Almedia, a platform that enhances game and brand discovery through data-driven rewards and recommendations, has made a significant announcement regarding its entry into the Japanese market. The company has appointed Koji Sakakura as the Country Manager for Japan, marking a strategic milestone in its global expansion. The appointment highlights Almedia's commitment to the APAC region and reflects its continuous growth trajectory, as recognized by the Financial Times' "FT1000" list of Europe’s fastest-growing companies.

Japan, with its highly developed mobile app and gaming ecosystem, presents an immense opportunity for Almedia. The demand for performance-based and transparent user acquisition solutions is on the rise, positioning Japan as a strategic market that is set to lead the next growth phase for Almedia. The company has been expanding its operations not only in Europe and North America but also in key APAC markets, including China and South Korea, driven by the growing need for reward-based user acquisition.

Koji Sakakura, who will be leading the business development efforts in Japan, comes with over 20 years of experience in digital advertising, platform monetization, and Go-To-Market (GTM) strategies. Prior to joining Almedia, he held senior leadership roles at global tech companies, including TikTok Japan, where he played a crucial role in launching localized full-funnel solutions for enterprise clients, significantly contributing to revenue growth.

As the Country Manager, Sakakura will focus on establishing a strong business foundation for Almedia in Japan, promoting strategic partnerships across the entire advertising ecosystem, and supporting the growth of Japanese gaming and application businesses through reward-based user acquisition solutions.

Almedia’s flagship platform, Freecash, connects over 60 million global users with advertisers, enabling efficient scaling of games and applications via data-driven reward campaigns. The company is committed to closely collaborating with advertisers to provide customized reward solutions that deliver sustainable and long-term results, transcending traditional user acquisition channels.

With its entry into the Japanese market, Almedia aims to strengthen the Freecash platform’s infrastructure domestically. This initiative will focus on expanding the user base and enhancing the publisher network, paving the way for new reward-based user acquisition opportunities tailored to Japanese user characteristics.

Moritz Hollender, Almedia's founder and CEO, stated, "Japan is one of the world’s leading mobile and gaming markets, and entering this market is a natural next step for Almedia’s global growth strategy. Under Sakakura’s deep market insight and leadership, we aim to build a robust business foundation in Japan, enabling developers and brands to scale and engage high-value users effectively."

In lines with this vision, Koji Sakakura commented, "Japan is a crucial market for reward-based user acquisition. Through Freecash, we will focus on helping advertisers reach high-quality users while creating long-term value."

This expansion by Almedia stands as a testament to their ambitious global strategy and their commitment to empowering businesses in Japan’s dynamic digital landscape.
