New Taipei City Welcomes 2026 with a Dazzling New Year's Eve Fireworks Show

As the clock struck midnight on December 31, 2025, New Taipei City ushered in the New Year with the spectacular "Shining New Taipei 1314 Cross-River Fireworks" event. This annual highlight along the Tamsui River was a vibrant celebration, combining a stunning outdoor concert series with an equally mesmerizing fireworks display.

The event brought together an estimated 90,000 attendees who descended upon Tamsui and Bali, two waterfront districts separated by the Tamsui River, to enjoy the festivities. This year, the concert featured a stellar lineup of artists from Taiwan, Japan, and South Korea, further enhancing the event's reputation as a prominent international cultural gathering.

The Tamsui "Starlight Stage" headlined South Korean sensation HWASA, a renowned figure in the K-pop scene. Her electrifying performance captivated audiences and showcased her artistry, drawing significant attention not just locally but internationally as well. Across the river, the Bali "Moonlight Stage" was graced by Japanese singer-songwriter Ai Higuchi, whose poignant vocals resonated with fans, particularly those familiar with her notable work on the theme song for the popular anime series Attack on Titan.

Throughout the night, artists from all three countries engaged in breathtaking performances on both stages, connected by a live broadcast that linked the visuals and sounds of the event, thereby enriching the experience for all attendees. The historic connection between Tamsui and Bali is set to deepen with the upcoming inauguration of the Danjiang Bridge in 2026, promoting greater regional connectivity.

At precisely 8:26 PM, the centerpiece of the evening commenced, orchestrated by the esteemed French pyrotechnics company Groupe F. Their artistry culminated in a 13-minute and 14-second fireworks display featuring over 35,000 fireworks in more than 60 stunning colors. This spectacle was not only a visual feast but also synchronized with the reflections in the river and the architectural lighting of the surroundings, creating a beautiful narrative woven into the night sky.

Mayor Hou Yu-ih highlighted that the "Shining New Taipei 1314" has become an integral part of the city’s identity. He characterized the event as a unique cultural prelude to the anticipated opening of the Danjiang Bridge, emphasizing its role in enhancing tourism and supporting sustainable development within the river corridor. This vibrant celebration reflects the ambitious vision for New Taipei City, where music, art, and community spirit merge harmoniously, setting a benchmark for future events.

In a city that prides itself on its dynamic blend of tradition and modernity, the New Year's Eve fireworks show underscores New Taipei's commitment to cultural advancement and international collaboration. As the lights dimmed and the celebration concluded, the people of New Taipei looked forward with hope and excitement for what 2026 may hold.
