Bito Secures $5.7 Million to Enhance AI-Powered Code Review Platform

In a significant move for the tech industry, Bito has successfully raised $5.7 million in a seed extension round led by Vela Partners. This funding boost aims to further develop its AI-driven code review platform, which is designed to revolutionize how developers review and enhance their code via deep codebase understanding. Coupled with contributions from NextView Ventures, Maxitech Ventures, and Eniac Ventures, Bito's total seed-stage funding now totals $8.8 million.

Bito's platform stands out because it offers a transformative approach to code review, focusing on an often-overlooked aspect of modern software development. The flagship product, the AI Code Review Agent, integrates seamlessly with popular repositories like GitHub, GitLab, and Bitbucket. This solution provides developers with detailed feedback on their code, allowing for the identification of issues, performance optimizations, and one-click fix suggestions across a myriad of programming languages, exceeding fifty in total.

Each week, Bito facilitates the review and improvement of over 10,000 pull requests, streamlining the development workflow for notable enterprises such as Gainsight, Whatfix, and PubMatic. According to Amar Goel, co-founder and CEO of Bito, “Everyone talks about writing code with AI. But production systems live and die by how well that code is reviewed, tested, and maintained.” With the latest funding, the company aims to bolster its technology's dynamic insights and codebase awareness, enabling teams to better manage the ever-growing influx of AI-generated and human-written code.

The data sheds light on the increasing effectiveness of Bito’s AI tools. Teams using Bito experience an impressive 89% speed increase in pull request merges, alongside a 34% reduction in the occurrence of regressions. Notably, 87% of the feedback provided during code reviews is generated by Bito’s AI, yielding a remarkable return of $14 for every $1 invested in their tooling. Noting the urgency of keeping pace with rapid development velocities, Yigit Ihlamur from Vela Partners expressed that while dev velocity increases, the reviews are often left in the dust, resulting in a decline in quality as fewer engineers are able to grasp the entirety of the codebase.

To address these challenges, Bito’s infrastructure is designed to empower engineering teams by adapting to the rapidly changing analytical environment. The platform’s integration incorporates understanding of architectural design patterns and code context while ensuring enterprise-grade security throughout the process.

With its identified core languages—including JavaScript, Typescript, Python, and Java—Bito is also seeing an uptick in adoption for other languages such as Go and C#. As development teams globally strive for greater efficiency and quality, Bito's AI-first approach to code review proves increasingly vital.

Moving forward, the funds raised will be instrumental in enhancing agentic tooling and AI code reviews, additionally facilitating deeper integrations with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) systems. Bito intends to expand its workforce across engineering, product development, and go-to-market functions to support its ambitious growth trajectory.

The ramifications of this funding extend beyond mere financial support; it also signals a broader acknowledgment of the evolving technological landscape where companies must prioritize effective code reviews to maintain product integrity in an AI-enhanced world. As the industry continues to pivot towards automation and intelligent systems, solutions like those offered by Bito will play a crucial role in shaping the future of software development.
