GEDU Global Education Partners with UNITAR to Advance Global Education Initiatives
GEDU Global Education Partners with UNITAR
In a significant move aimed at advancing global education and sustainable development, GEDU Global Education, an educational multinational based in the UK, has formalized a partnership with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR). The agreement, signed during the XXII Annual CIFAL Meeting in London, represents a commitment to operate one of UNITAR's 32 international training centers around the globe.
Aims and Objectives of the Partnership
The collaboration centers around enhancing capacity-building programs tailored to support the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), originally adopted in 2015. During the CIFAL meeting held from December 9 to 11, over 70 delegates from more than 30 countries gathered to discuss the network's performance, which has trained more than 161,000 beneficiaries in 2025 alone. The cooperative effort aims to further accelerate the fulfillment of the SDGs over the next five years.
The signing of the agreement was underscored by the release of GEDU's inaugural Sustainability Report, presented by the UK’s Minister for Artificial Intelligence and Online Security, Kanishka Narayan, at an event hosted in Parliament by Baroness Verma. This report outlines the extensive work being conducted by GEDU’s institutions in alignment with the UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the SDGs.
Dr. Vishwajeet Rana, the CEO of GEDU, expressed his views on the agreement, stating, "This alliance allows us to enhance our sustainability efforts in close collaboration with the United Nations, UNITAR, and all CIFAL centers worldwide. Our discussions last week highlighted collaborative areas for 2026, reflecting on how the UN's agenda and the Pact for the Future will shape development objectives toward 2030."
Highlighting the global nature of GEDU’s contributions, Dr. Rana emphasized, "Our institution operates across 16 countries, from Toronto and Tampa in the Americas to Europe, the Middle East, and India, extending to Brisbane in the Asia-Pacific. This gives us a global perspective that can drive impactful change."
The Role of CIFAL and Global Education
The CIFAL centers, which focus on the professional development of government officials and civil society representatives, play a crucial role in the initiative. Alex Mejía, head of UNITAR's Global CIFAL Network, remarked, "The strategic agreement with GEDU is key to developing the necessary capabilities to achieve the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals. Many of our CIFAL centers are based in universities, highlighting the vital role of higher education in this effort. With GEDU operating CIFAL London, we can reach 200,000 beneficiaries next year. Their operations across various continents inspire great confidence in what we can achieve together in the near future."
GEDU’s Vision for the Future

As the partnership with UNITAR unfolds, GEDU aims to enhance its initiatives and contribute meaningfully toward the global education landscape while supporting the UN's ambitious agenda for sustainable development. The growing collaboration between educational institutions and international bodies like the UN will undoubtedly pave the way for innovative solutions and substantial progress towards achieving the goals set forth in 2015. Together, GEDU and UNITAR are set to make a lasting impact on education and global development.
