Unveiling the Future of Nankai Electric Railway's Digital Transformation
On July 31, 2025, Japan Planning Institute (JPI) will host a seminar in Tokyo featuring Toshiyasu Nakao, the Chief Digital Transformation Officer at Nankai Electric Railway. Founded in 1885, Nankai Electric Railway is the oldest private railway company in Japan, operating from Osaka Namba and managing various businesses. Like many other enterprises, Nankai faced significant disruptions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, prompting a crucial shift in their operational strategies towards digital transformation.
This seminar aims to shed light on Nankai Electric Railway's holistic approach to digital transformation, which includes enhancing their business models through data-centric processes and focusing on business innovation and data marketing. During this talk, Nakao will detail the overarching strategies that underpin these transformations, including the enhancement of IT governance and security as well as workforce development.
