Okayama University SDGs Ambassadors' Hiruzen Training Program
On November 8, 2025, Okayama University, located in Okayama City, implemented the SDGs Ambassadors Hiruzen Training Program. This initiative aims to explore the utilization of local resources through practical experiences and deepen the understanding of sustainable tourism and living. A total of 14 SDGs ambassadors from Okayama University participated in this program.
During the training, participants shared the program's objectives while traveling to Hiruzen. The first experiential visit was to Hiruzen Jersey Land, where they learned about biomass energy utilizing the rich local timber and the promotion of local consumption through dairy products such as yogurt and pudding made with Hiruzen's milk. Over lunch, participants enjoyed a meal of Jersey beef hamburgers and yogurt, experiencing firsthand how local resources contribute to sustainable community development.
The program continued at the Hiruzen Herb Garden, where participants engaged in hands-on experiences with herbs, learning about the importance of utilizing local resources in the tourism industry. They discussed how providing attractive experiences for tourists can invigorate the local economy.
