Celebrate 20 Years of Kobito-zukan
This summer, Rokurinsya Co., Ltd. in Meguro, Tokyo, is thrilled to announce a special campaign to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the beloved children's book series, Kobito-zukan. The campaign invites children to let their imaginations run wild by envisioning their very own Gobito (a whimsical creature) through the 'I Wish There Were Such Gobito' initiative.
How to Participate
Kids can grab a special application form available at designated bookstores and libraries, where they are encouraged to draw and describe a Gobito they wish existed. This is a unique opportunity for children to express their creativity and discover magic in ordinary surroundings. The campaigns aim to inspire kids to see the world through a different lens and recognize the beauty in nature, sparking their curiosity about the environment.
All entries will be showcased on the Kobito-zukan 20th-anniversary special website, providing a platform for young artists to shine. The top submission will receive a signed illustration of their Gobito by the series' creator, Nabata Toshitaka, alongside a package of fun merchandise. Additionally, 10 runners-up will also win a signed illustration and a merchandise bundle tailored to their chosen Gobito.
The Significance of Kobito-zukan
Since its debut in 2006, Kobito-zukan has captivated children and families, establishing itself as a staple in early childhood literature. With over 3.2 million copies sold, the series has introduced readers to the mysterious and charming world of Gobitos. The collection showcases 444 different Gobitos, each with distinct appearances and personalities that evoke imagination and wonder.
Kobito-zukan encourages children to believe in the extraordinary, allowing them to explore speculative thoughts about hidden creatures around them. The series promotes fun activities like Gobito hunting, where children can search for traces of these enchanting beings within their surroundings, fostering a deep connection with nature.
