Annual Dental Checkup by Forest Dental Clinic at Urawa Gakuin High School

Annual Dental Checkup at Urawa Gakuin High School

In April 2025, the Forest Dental Clinic, under the Medical Corporation Dental Care Community, conducted its annual large-scale dental checkup for students at Urawa Gakuin High School. This initiative, which began in 2019, aims to maintain students' dental health while promoting early detection and treatment.

With a dedicated team comprising 14 dentists, 12 dental hygienists, and 19 support staff, nearly 45 members participated in this three-day event. The checkups took place on the following dates:

  • - April 19, 2025: 1,432 students
  • - April 26, 2025: 1,296 students
  • - Make-up day in May: 302 students

A total of 3,030 students underwent dental checkups, which focused on assessing their oral health, ensuring they were pain-free, and checking their brushing techniques. This program plays a crucial role in helping students maintain a healthy and comfortable school life, especially amidst their academic and extracurricular activities.

Overview of School Dental Checkups

The primary goal of school dental checkups is to ensure students maintain good oral health and prevent dental diseases. Conducted by the professional staff of Forest Dental Clinic, the objectives are multi-faceted:

1. Early Detection: To identify dental issues such as cavities and gum diseases early, allowing for timely treatment.
2. Preventive Education: To teach students proper brushing techniques and the importance of a healthy diet for dental health.
3. Health Monitoring: To assess each student's dental condition and relay necessary information to parents when required.
4. Raising Health Awareness: To encourage students to become more aware of their dental health and understand the importance of daily care.

The checkup process involves dentists examining each student’s teeth and providing advice based on their findings. Post-checkup, health results are documented and, when necessary, communicated to parents through the school.

This yearly dental initiative is indispensable for ensuring that students thrive academically and socially in a healthy environment, contributing positively to the community overall. The setup included six examination booths staffed with dentists and support team members, ensuring seamless patient flow during the checkups.

Additional Initiatives by Forest Dental Clinic

In conjunction with the baseball team at Urawa Gakuin High School, Forest Dental Clinic is actively involved in promoting athlete safety through its sports mouthguard program. This initiative focuses on ensuring players’ health and safety by conducting safety workshops and assisting with the creation, fitting, and usage of mouthguards.
