Utilities and municipalities worldwide are encouraged to submit their nominations by August 1, 2025.

Recognizing Pioneers in Resource Efficiency

The Excellence in Resourcefulness Awards spotlight innovations and implementations of Itron's cutting-edge solutions designed to improve operational efficiency across various sectors, particularly within electricity and water utilities. Award categories such as Energy and Water will focus on utility companies that demonstrate excellence in developing and executing strategies that enhance resource sustainability and operational performance through advanced technology integration.

Energy Category: How Technology Empowers Utilities

In the Energy category, accolades will be awarded to Investor-Owned Utilities (IOUs), Municipalities, and Cooperatives that showcase effective methods to improve grid resilience while tackling operational challenges. The implementation of sophisticated technologies such as Distributed Energy Resources Management Systems (DERMS), Virtual Power Plants (VPP), and Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) will be critical in assessing candidates for this award.

Water Category: A Focus on Conservation

The Water category of the awards will similarly aim to highlight the efforts of utilities that prioritize water conservation strategies and operational efficiency. Nominees will be evaluated based on their success in employing technology solutions that promote water sustainability, including the use of AMI and edge intelligence.

Over the last decade, the utility industry has faced numerous shifts driven by technological advancements and the growing adoption of smart resource management solutions.
