TUS FORUM 2025: Exploring the Future of Information Science
On October 26, 2025, Tokyo University of Science (TUS) will host its annual event, the TUS FORUM, specifically aimed at introducing its pivotal educational and research initiatives to society at large. This year's theme is "Information Science and Technology", showcasing the university's vision for the future as it continuously adapts to the rapid developments in this field.
Since its foundation, TUS has prioritized strengthening its educational infrastructure in the realm of information science and technology. Given the remarkable advancements in areas such as artificial intelligence, the university is committed to bolstering its educational and research framework to better nurture talented individuals capable of contributing to society. In line with this goal, TUS is set to launch two new departments in April 2026: the Department of Information and Computer Science within the Faculty of Innovative Science and Technology and the Department of Science Communication in the Faculty of Science.
The TUS FORUM will offer attendees insights from faculty members anticipated to teach in the newly established departments, outlining their objectives, unique educational features, and the allure of pursuing further studies in these fields. Additionally, distinguished individuals from the information science sector will share their expertise during the event.
Among the keynote speakers will be Ken Kutaragi, known for spearheading the development of PlayStation at Sony Computer Entertainment and currently serving as the Dean of the Faculty of Informatics at Kinki University as well as the CEO of Ascent Robotics Inc. Joining him will be Hiroshi Yokoyama, a distinguished graduate of TUS and now a professor at the Kavli Institute for the Physics and Mathematics of the Universe at the University of Tokyo.
Through this forum, TUS aims to communicate the leading edge of information science and technology, sharing real-world contributions to society while deepening an understanding of the university's educational and research efforts, as well as its commitment to nurturing future leaders in science communication.
