FOD Announces 2026-27 Figure Skating Season Live Coverage

As the 2026-27 figure skating season kicks off, FOD, the video streaming service operated by Fuji TV, is set to bring an exciting summer lineup of domestic events straight to your screens. This summer, FOD will host live streaming of three major competitions under the theme 'Summer Figure of FOD 2026-27 Season'.

Major Competitions to Watch

1. 53rd Western Japan Elementary and Junior High School Figure Skating Championships

  • - Dates: August 7 (Fri) to August 9 (Sun)
  • - Location: Kinoshita Academy Kyoto Ice Arena, Kyoto

The 53rd edition of this historic competition focuses on young talents from the western region of Japan. Notable entrants include Junka Kanazawa, who competed in last season’s Junior Grand Prix Final, and Riku Sakuma, the reigning novice champion making his junior debut. Witness the progression and determination of these future stars as they showcase their skills.

2. Figure Skating Kanto Summer Trophy 2026

  • - Dates: August 8 (Sat) to August 10 (Mon)
  • - Location: KOSÉ Shin-Yokohama Skate Center

This competition has become a summertime staple in the Kanto region, attracting top skaters. This year's lineup includes Shun Sato, the bronze medalist from the Milan-Cortina Olympics, and Taiko Nishino, who earned a bronze medal at last season’s World Junior Figure Skating Championships despite being a newcomer. It is an essential stepping stone for skaters aspiring to compete in the All Japan Championships this winter.

3. 2026 Tokyo Summer Figure Skating Championships

  • - Dates: August 22 (Sat) to August 23 (Sun), September 12 (Sat)
  • - Location: Tokyo Tatsumi Ice Arena

The Tokyo Summer Championships will feature high-level competition, showcasing some of the best skaters. This year, Riri Nakata, the reigning World Junior Champion, will be performing, alongside successful skaters like Ami Nakai, the bronze medalist from the Milan-Cortina Olympics, and Rion Sumiyoshi, known for her quadruple toe loop.
