Celebrating Resilience: The 2026 Military Child of the Year® Award Semifinalists Announced



Operation Homefront has proudly announced the semifinalists for the highly esteemed 2026 Military Child of the Year® Award. This honor is presented by the nonprofit organization that focuses on strengthening military and veteran families, highlighting the incredible accomplishments of military children nationwide. This year, a total of 68 outstanding semifinalists have been selected from various military branches, each demonstrating remarkable leadership, resilience, and service amidst the unique challenges that can come with a military lifestyle.

The Military Child of the Year Award is a prestigious recognition aimed at honoring the extraordinary contributions of military children who serve and sacrifice alongside their parents. As multiple families navigate through constant relocations and lifestyle changes, these young individuals showcase grit and determination, proving to be invaluable assets within their communities and beyond. The submissions for this year's award broke previous records, emphasizing the necessity of acknowledging the strength of these young lives.

A Closer Look at the Semifinalists


Representing various military branches around the world, these semifinalists reflect a diverse range of experiences, embodying their unique backgrounds and stories. Whether stationed in large metropolitan areas or closer to smaller installations, each child echoing a tale of perseverance and commitment to their communities. The finalists will be chosen in February through a careful selection process conducted by independent judges. The eventual winners will be revealed in March during a ceremony in Washington D.C.

Each of the seven final recipients will be recognized in April 2026 during a gala event that includes a $10,000 award, a laptop computer, and other gifts, providing them with both recognition and opportunity.
