LSC Secures Second Hyperscale Client for Its Dark Fiber Route, Driven by Growing AI Needs
LSC Secures a New Hyperscale Tenant
In a significant development for the tech landscape, Light Source Communications (LSC) has announced the acquisition of a second hyperscale tenant for its long-haul dark fiber route between Tulsa, Oklahoma, and St. Louis, Missouri. This contract not only signifies the growing demand for high-capacity data solutions but also establishes the Central U.S. as a vital corridor catering to the soaring requirements for generative AI and high-performance computing (HPC).
The newly inked agreement underscores LSC's foresight in developing a route spanning over 500 miles, which features strategically located eight in-line amplifiers (ILAs) to maintain outstanding signal integrity crucial for GPU-heavy and AI/ML workloads. Built with foresight, the network is developed with ample fiber counts and employs a 100% underground deployment for enhanced security and durability, making it specifically designed to facilitate the collaborative ecosystem between hyperscale cloud services and the requisite edge infrastructure for immediate AI processing.

As Tulsa continues its rise as a prime data center hub, this validation from multiple tenants accelerates the region’s competitiveness against top-tier markets. Engineering for this ambitious route is nearing completion, with initial phases of construction already showing substantial progress. The anticipated full completion is aimed for the third quarter of 2027.
Furthermore, this Tulsa-St. Louis route marks the third venture LSC has initiated this year, solidifying its role as a critical infrastructure partner in the current AI epoch. Simultaneously, LSC is working on a comparable project linking Amarillo, Texas, with Oklahoma City, Stillwater, and Tulsa. This 400-mile project, reinforced with seven ILAs and anchored by another hyperscale tenant, aims to deliver robust, high-capacity connectivity between these regions. Additionally, LSC is advancing work on a new dark fiber ring serving the Indianapolis, Indiana, metro area. Encompassing around 240 miles and five high-capacity rings, this network will engage approximately 20 municipalities, offering direct access to numerous data centers, backed by another hyperscale tenant.
