Seminar on Decarbonized Management
The Japan Planning Institute (JPI) will hold a seminar titled "Latest Environmental Policies and Support for Decarbonized Management" on
July 7, 2025, from
1:30 PM to 3:30 PM. Industry professionals are invited to join us as we welcome esteemed speakers from the Ministry of the Environment's Global Warming Countermeasures Division, including environmental specialists Yoshitake Mizutani and Yusuke Sano.
This event will delve into the Ministry's latest policies aimed at reducing carbon emissions, outlining support mechanisms in light of recent regulatory updates. Among the goals, the new Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC), showcases Japan's commitment to achieve a
60% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by
2035 compared to
2013 levels. Furthermore, there are aims to reach a
73% reduction by
2040.
Presenters will discuss the importance of achieving decarbonization while promoting economic growth, emphasizing the need for investments in green transformation (GX investments) to accelerate progress. The focus on reducing CO2 emissions is now expanding across the value chain, particularly on Scope 3 emissions, which includes emissions throughout the supply chain. Additionally, there's a growing demand for disclosure of climate-related information and biodiversity-related disclosures, especially from large corporations.
During the seminar, participants will gain insight into the advantages of adopting a decarbonized management approach, the significance of supplier engagement, and the ongoing initiatives of the Ministry for promoting decarbonization efforts for medium-sized and small enterprises, complemented by real-world case studies.
Topics to be Discussed:
1. International Trends Towards Carbon Neutrality
2. Upcoming Reduction Targets (NDC) and the Revised Global Warming Countermeasures Plan
3. Trends in Sustainability Information Disclosure and Scope 3 Calculations
4. Comprehensive Decarbonization Across the Value Chain (Model Projects)
- Supplier Engagement
- Carbon Footprint of Products and Services (CFP)
- Establishing Support Systems for Decarbonized Management at the Community Level
5. Emerging Trends: Synergies with Biodiversity
6. Q&A Session
