Innovative Internship Program Launched by Washington Freedom and Infinite Computer Solutions with Local Colleges

New Internship Program to Empower Students

In an exciting development for students in Frederick County, Washington Freedom Cricket and Infinite Computer Solutions have teamed up with Hood College and Frederick Community College (FCC) to launch a remarkable internship program aimed at enriching educational experiences and enhancing workforce prospects. This partnership was officially solidified during a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremony on January 16, where representatives from all four organizations came together to emphasize their commitment to supporting local youth in their career aspirations.

Through this collaboration, students enrolled at Hood College and FCC will have exclusive access to internships that span various fields including information technology, sports marketing, game-day operations, cybersecurity, and business administration. This initiative aims not only to provide valuable real-world experience but also to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and professional application.

Sanjay Govil, owner of Washington Freedom and founder of Infinite Computer Solutions, expressed enthusiasm about the initiative: "At both Washington Freedom and Infinite Computer Solutions, we believe that innovation thrives when we invest in the next generation of talent. This partnership isn't just about providing internships–it's about creating a bridge between the classroom and the global industries of technology and professional sports. We are proud to invest in Frederick County's students and look forward to the fresh perspectives they will bring to our organizations."

Designed to enhance career readiness and contribute to the long-term economic vitality of the region, the program promises to provide students with necessary skills and experiences to succeed in their future careers. By merging academic curriculum with practical application, the internship initiative offers a comprehensive understanding of the workforce dynamics and prepares students for the challenges ahead.

This innovative collaboration also reinforces Frederick County’s status as a center for education and opportunity. Dr. Debbie Ricker, President of Hood College, highlighted the importance of experiential learning in aligning educational activities with industry needs. "This partnership with Washington Freedom expands experiential pathways for our students and aligns seamlessly with Hood's commitment to hands-on, career-ready learning," she stated.

The excitement surrounding this program reflects broader trends in the professional sports industry as well as the growth of cricket in the United States. With the establishment of Washington Freedom as the first professional cricket franchise in the DMV area, the partnership represents a pivotal moment for both sports and education within the community. Govil noted, "The global growth of cricket and the continued rise of the sports industry create exciting opportunities for our graduates and for Frederick."

Through its affiliation with FCC, a two-year public college focused on accessibility and success for diverse learners, the initiative serves to provide a varied and robust educational foundation. According to FCC President Annesa Payne Cheek, this partnership will cultivate unique opportunities for hands-on learning and mentorship, empowering students to explore and realize future career possibilities.

On the day of the MOU signing, leaders from Washington Freedom, Infinite Computer Solutions, Hood College, and FCC were joined by local and state officials, including Maryland Secretary of Higher Education Dr. Sanjay Rai and Frederick's Mayor Michael O'Connor. The occasion marked not only the formal celebration of the partnership but also a commitment to fostering a richer educational environment and community engagement.

Additionally, Washington Freedom is exploring the establishment of a dedicated cricket park in Frederick County, aiming to deepen its roots and investment within the community beyond the green pitch. This partnership exemplifies a forward-thinking approach to community engagement and youth empowerment, ensuring both institutions pave the way for future leaders in various industries.

As the program launches, Washington Freedom and Infinite Computer Solutions, along with its educational partners, are poised to transform the landscape of student internships in Frederick County, contributing to a sustainable and innovative future for education and professional development in the region.
