WACKER's Cutting-Edge Silicone Solutions at The Battery Show 2026
Wacker Chemical Corporation is set to make waves in the battery technology sector as it showcases its advanced silicone technologies during The Battery Show 2026, taking place from October 12 to 15 at Huntington Place in Detroit, Michigan. At Booth 4422, WACKER will demonstrate a suite of innovative materials designed specifically for thermal management and protection in battery and electronics applications.
Thermal Management: The Key to Battery Performance
In today’s fast-evolving battery landscape, effective thermal management is crucial. As batteries become increasingly integral to electric vehicles (EVs) and portable electronic devices, the pressure on materials to perform under diverse conditions intensifies. WACKER aims to address these challenges head-on by presenting silicone materials that optimize performance while ensuring safety and efficiency throughout the production process.
Peter Zorney, WACKER’s Senior Director of Electronics and Automotive for North and Central America, stated, “Thermal management is closely connected to both battery performance and the manufacturing process.” The complexity of battery pack design necessitates a deep understanding of the interplay between material characteristics and operational requirements. Engineers must evaluate how materials behave during application, curing, and at various operating temperatures, all while adhering to stringent safety standards.
Spotlight on Innovative Products
WACKER's exhibition will feature several key products:
1. ELASTOSIL® RT 7650 TC VS A/B
This low-viscosity, self-leveling silicone potting compound is designed for battery packs and electronic applications. The versatile two-part material promotes primerless adhesion and offers customizable thermal conductivity ranging from 1.2 to 3.0 W/m•K with low sedimentation. This ensures easy homogenization and efficient application, significantly streamlining production processes.
2. Flexible Silicone Coating: ELASTOSIL® CM 146 US A/B
An innovative sprayable silicone solution tailored for flexible barrier systems in battery technology. After curing, this material maintains its deformability while forming a robust ceramic shield when subjected to temperatures exceeding 600°C. This feature delivers exceptional thermal insulation during thermal runaway events, protecting sensitive components from damage and enhancing overall safety.
3. Thermally Conductive Material: SEMICOSIL® PE 9351 TC VS A/B
WACKER will also showcase this cutting-edge two-component hybrid adhesive, optimized for automotive battery and electronic manufacturing. The product offers a thermal conductivity up to 2.0 W/m•K and exhibits non-slump dispensing. It is designed to cure at room temperature and meets UL 94 V-0 flame-retardant standards, suitable for contemporary EV architectures that evolve from module-to-pack to cell-to-pack designs.
Industry Collaboration and Networking
The Battery Show 2026 serves as a convergence point for engineers, scientists, executives, and technology providers across the entire battery and electronic components development spectrum. Attendees will benefit from WACKER's expertise as they discuss material requirements and explore silicone technologies tailored to battery and electronics applications.
In an ever-competitive landscape, WACKER’s commitment to innovation positions the company as a leader in the materials space, driving advancements that not only enhance product performance but also prioritize safety and sustainability.
