HUAWEI Mobile Services Aims to Transform the Future of Tourism
At the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025, HUAWEI Mobile Services is setting its sights on reshaping the landscape of tourism. With China regarded as a major outbound travel market for Spain, adapting to the evolving consumer preferences is more crucial than ever. Key trends that are driving change in 2025 include the "de-seasonalization" of travel and the push toward decentralized tourism, encouraging visitors to explore beyond major urban centers.
Spanish tourism officials recognize the significant impact of these trends. Travelers from China are increasingly looking for longer stays that allow them to immerse themselves in cultural experiences and luxury offerings. As the tourism sector evolves, it's essential that businesses adjust their strategies to meet these new demands.
To capitalize on these emerging trends, HUAWEI Mobile Services is leveraging its platform, Petal Ads, to provide businesses with insights based on real-time data. This initiative aims to enhance their understanding of Chinese tourists' preferences and behaviors, thus enabling more effective engagement strategies.
Strategic Partnerships Reinforce HUAWEI's Commitment
During MWC 2025, HUAWEI formalized its commitment to the tourism sector by signing two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with prominent regional and city authorities in Spain. These MoUs are in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism and Foreign Affairs of the Andalusian Government and the Tourism Council of Madrid. This cooperation is poised to foster innovation and generate a more pronounced economic impact on the tourism industry.
“We're thrilled to team up with Turismo Andalucía and the Madrid Tourism Council to enhance premium travel experiences in Spain,” shared Shan Xuefeng, Director of Consumer Cloud Service Ecosystem Development at HUAWEI Consumer BG.
The partnership sets the groundwork for creating a smarter, more innovative, and sustainable tourism ecosystem. By integrating their digital solutions with the stakeholders' commitment to tourism development, HUAWEI hopes to provide Chinese travelers with unforgettable experiences in Spain.
Strengthening Global Travel Connections
The collaborative agreement aims not just at developing strong marketing initiatives but also at enlarging their partnership efforts through 2025 and beyond. Arturo Bernal, Minister of Tourism and External Affairs for the Junta de Andalucía, emphasized that this partnership would enhance their competitive position to address the Chinese market, noting, “Given its size, our promotion must be based on economic intelligence and finding allies like Huawei, which enjoys significant prestige among the Chinese populace.”
As the Chinese tourist market expands, Madrid has witnessed a staggering 74.2% growth in overseas visitors from China in 2024 alone. HUAWEI's partnership with the Madrid tourist council aims to capitalize on this momentum and reshape how Chinese travelers experience one of the world's top destinations.
Moving Towards Sustainable Tourism
Through the recent MoU, HUAWEI and Madrid are collaborating to nurture a decentralized tourism model. This model encourages exploration beyond traditional hotspots and promotes visitation during off-peak periods. Such a strategy not only reflects a commitment to sustainability but also aligns with Madrid's broader digital transformation strategy aimed at promoting smart, responsible tourism.
Héctor Coronel, Director General of Tourism in Madrid, stated, “Madrid embraces the future of travel by incorporating cutting-edge digital solutions into sustainable tourism practices.”
HUAWEI Mobile Services is not just focused on meeting the current needs of travelers but is also guiding Spain to adapt to the emerging requirements of Chinese tourists. This effort is pivotal in reinforcing its reputation as a top destination for international visitors.
