2025 Tokushima Prefecture Rankings: Happiness and Desirability of Living in Different Towns

Happiness and Living Preference Rankings for Tokushima 2025

In a comprehensive study conducted by Daito Kentaku Co., Ltd., the largest-ever survey was undertaken to assess happiness levels and the desirability of living in various towns across Tokushima Prefecture for 2025. The survey also revealed that residents had a significant preference for certain towns, indicating varying levels of satisfaction.

Key Findings of the Happiness Rankings

The Happiness Ranking for Tokushima Prefecture saw a new frontrunner this year. Ibaraki Town in Itano District has climbed to the top, moving up from second place last year. Following closely behind, Higashimiyoshi Town in Miyoshi District achieved second place after improving from fourth. Aizumi Town maintained its position in third place for the second consecutive year.

This year’s findings highlighted a trend where six out of the top seven ranked towns are in rural areas, notably with four towns within the Itano District, demonstrating strong community satisfaction.

The Happiness Ranking is based on five years' worth of gathered responses, from 2021 to 2025, and only included towns that had at least 50 respondents. If this threshold wasn't met, additional data from previous years was also included to ensure the robustness of the results.

What Influences Happiness?

Respondents rated their happiness level on a scale from 1 to 10, where 1 indicates extreme unhappiness and 10 represents extreme happiness. The results were then averaged and converted to a scale of 100 to establish rankings.

Living Preference Rankings Explained

For the Desirability to Live Ranking, Ishii Town in Nanishi District has topped this list for the second year, followed by Kita-Kishida Town in Itano District, which also secured the second spot for two consecutive years. Yoshinogawa City moved up to third from last year’s fourth position, illustrating a shift in residents' preferences across the years.

Similar to the happiness survey, the ranking for desired living conditions was also based on resident feedback from the last five years, with additional data pulled in cases where participant numbers were insufficient.

The desirability score is derived from a scoring system ranging from 0 to 100, based on how likely residents are to want to continue living in their current town. This year revealed significant insights about community pride and local attachment, which are essential metrics in evaluating overall satisfaction.
